What do you think about this burner? It's pretty cheap and supports everything. Is it really that good?

Yeah most people who owns it says it works pretty weel. And I believe It's the only dvd-burner out there that burns +r at 16x. I plan to buy a black one myself.

I've had endless trouble with NEC drives. I can't speak with experience with this particular model because I just gave up, but media I burned in my other NEC drives (1300 and 2500) very rarely played in any standalone player - and these were -R and +R, neither seemed to work.

Plus I used to get corrupted data burns all the time, except at 1x. No way I'm going to continue using a drive if I can only realistically use it at 1x.

I'm completely a Pioneer man now. I've got a 4x DVR-106 in my server, an 8x DVR-107 in my main machine, and I will hopefully shortly have a 16x Dual-Layer DVR-108 on the way (waiting for payday!).

//edit: Oh, and the DVR-108 also supports writing at 16x on either +/-R, and up to 4x on dual-layer media.

Its works great for as well. Had no problems buring the star wars trilogy from emerald and south park passion of the jew. Very Happy I used sony dvd-rs and it plays great on my also sony dvd player.

Anyway, go with this model if not not then go for the pioneer which makes a good second choice.

Cheers

If you're ready to pay more go for the new Plexter 716 drive. You now It's a Plextor and it supports 16x.
