Yea saw it on Blue's News this morning. I wonder if they will not release a GTX version of the 9900 anyway, they always do. |

I don't really see them busting out of the gates, at least this soon, with a gfx card that blows away the 8800s.
I think the only thing that would accomplish is pissing off all the ppl with the current cards and make them wary to upgrade, all except those with Way too much money to burn. Even tho the g80 has proved itself by upholding the fastest and most technologically advanced chip status for almost a year which is quite a feat, I don't see them making their own products totally obsolete.
Hell, DAMMIT is struggling to even keep a grip on the mainstream market, not to mention winning over ANY high-end gamers these days.
Besides all that, I bet DX 10.1 is a very small incremental upgrade that wont see support in a year and a half, at least. MS hasn't even finallized the specs and we are only now seeing games coming out with dx10 features. So imagine what a small userbase the devs would be catering to if they focused on dx 10.1 this year or next?

i have an 8800gtx and i think it'll last a while... i plan on skipping this upcoming generation of cards and get the next ones when they show up next year. my 8800 will last that long easily.

are you using lcd or crt monitor? im planning on going lcd, which means ill have to have enough grunt to keep games looking good at insanely high resolutions, which is going to get tougher as more demanding games keep coming out
i spose the good news about a new card coming out, means i can decide if i want to sli my 8800gtx, and then wait for the next generation after the next generation, given that 8800gtx's will come down in price.

Yeah man, you should be good for at least a year, even w/ one card, no prob. I have a 24 incher that runs at 1900x1200, which I was worried running complex games when I first got the baby. But Bioshock runs Flawlessly even with 4xAA, vertical sync and all. Of course anything like 16xAA w/transparancy and all that is out of the question, but the super high res makes up for it bigtime. If it runs like shit, its a bad port and not worth playing.
But yeah we should be good esp when devs/nvidia driver ppl get their collective dx10 act together, games should be loaded with more effects and run smooth as silk.

x2 4400+ 939 socket stock speed, evga 7900GS KO @660/812, 2x1024 OCZ using that 1440 and the new beta drivers for bioshock I run all the options on (I have to turn off high detailed shaders, that kills me) and i get 30-40 average. 25 depending on the area. I never get any slowdowns

Release date : November 2007. There will be TWO products at launch: The flagship GeForce 9800 GTX and the second fastest GeForce 9800 GTS.
price for the GeForce 9800 GTX will be 549-649 USD.

Sounds like a good idea to me, buying all the "gaming related hardware" (well, sort of) in the same card. And the specs do look good... over 2 times faster than 8800 ultra?!

odd how just a minor upgrade in a vid card can make a game run that much better. i have a 7950gt agp and a x2 64 4200 and 2gb ram also, and a samsumg 206bw 1680x1050, and run bio with everything maxxed at a constant 60fps
is there any particular reason you posted the same link that is in the first post in this topic that was started over 2 weeks ago? |

yeah i have the same configuration as you, but i have 3 gb of ram, and the game still runs, above 60fps with everything at max but the resolution is 1024x768 cuz my monitor is LG F700B CRT 17" |
