Quote:

UK, September 6, 2007 - After SCi Entertainment - owner of Eidos - announced earlier this week that it's been approached about a possible buy out, UK newspaper The Guardian has reported it's believed Ubisoft is behind the move to snap up the Lara Croft publisher.

On Tuesday, in a letter to the London Stock Exchange, SCi confirmed that it's in the very early stages of potential buy out discussions with an unnamed company. According to The Guardian it's not the first time Ubisoft has tried to snap up SCi and, in October 2005, the two companies were rumoured to be in talks together, although it ultimately led to nothing.

Interestingly, The Guardian also notes that the rumoured interest from Ubisoft could stir up potential offers from Time Warner (which currently has a 10% stake in SCi), EA and even Sony. Of course, this is all speculation at the moment but we'll be keeping our eye on developments.

Sad

Ubisoft? No! Let EA buy them! I want to see Sims like censorship while Lara is having her shower.

Or no, no... Let whatever company did Fahrenheit! That's it, no censorship at all! Let's throw some sex in for all it's worth! Yeah!

[/sarcasm]

Oh well, I guess that's how it goes. Sad news really, if the buyout ever goes through.

I hate this things, at first all they talk about is keeping the name and retaining all developers, then in couple of years nothing from original company is left. Still, worst case scenario for pc user, must be Sony.
