Dude, you just made my day (or rather night lol)! Firefly is my favorite sci-fi show after BSG and I loved Serenity. Hopefully, this will turn out to be true.

Why does everyone love firefly so much? Space cowboys, really? C'mon. I like the story, sorta, but it could do without the brokeback effect.

I heard it started shooting in Tunisia like one week ago.
I also think fisk should be unbanned.

yeah firefly and serenity werent bad. i definately think the show should have been given a chance, the characters were interesting enough and the humor ws alright, and serenity was good too, so id definately see another movie if they made one.
i wonder if it'll actually be a sequel or a prequel... wont be as good if its a sequel, because they offed like the second best dude in the movie... Alan Tudyk fucking rocks

im amazed bsg is actually still going to be honest... its not better than some of the shows that got canned, so i wonder how it managed to fluke staying on air...
its sad because aside from bsg, we have no decent sci-fi shows... i wonder why the networks hate them so much given how much viewers DO love sci-fi...

What? BSG S1 & S2 were best thing on TV atm (they even won the Peabody award)! S3 was a bit lower on spots but still had very high moments.

should have been more specific perhaps... its not as good as many sci-fi shows that have been canned, didnt mean to make it sound like its not as good as general shows that have been dumped.
also im not saying its not a good show or anything, its one of the best things on tv at the moment.

yeah i find the series is getting pretty melodramatic and soppy. i dont mind drama in sci-fi, with talk of politics, religion etc... i dont nEED it to be constant battles (though i definately wouldnt say no ), but i think the show needs some new writers whose previous work experience wasnt dawsons fucking creek, and lois & clark..
the battles are cool, and atleast most of the stories are interesting enough, but it aint nothing when you put it against shit like b5, farscape, blakes 7, first 2 seasons of lexx, and im sure ill get lynched for this, but fuck y'all ill say it anyway... space above and beyond. with some better writers and another season, that show coulda been the shit.

Firefly was canceled due to the lack of interest in the show and the fact it cost A LOT of money to produce. The lack of interest I would blame on the time of day it was on.

its like one of those self fulfilling prophecy deals isnt it...
networks are worried about investing too much and putting their full effort into a project because they fear it'll fail, so they play it out of order trying to pick the episodes they think will do best to get interest, when in fact the disjointed story puts people off, and finally their hesitation to go all the way means they put it on during bad or average timeslots, then wonder why the shows fail.

I loved firefly, both the series and the movie. I remember Joss saying there would never be another firefly movie and the movie didn't make enough at the theater. The DVD sales were really good tho.
It was aired at a bad time. So many people got into after it was cancelled hence the dvd sales.
I am in love with Jayne. He is hot.

Well the dvd's actually did amazing, universal actually ran out of stock and has to make another batch, and the way video stores are, people see the movie get interested, rent the dvd's for the episodes, and may be interested in the next movie, so if released, it could do a lot better than the first one did

I've read an interview where Whedon said the series' future is in the hands of the DVD sales. I know this part went very well, so, like I said, hopefully we'll see another movie.

The website Moviehole did a phone interview with “Serenity” star Alan Tudyk (promoting his new movie “Death at a Funeral”). The key excerpt:
Tudyk says the newly-released “Serenity : Special Edition“ DVD has been selling so hot, that there’s talk in doing another movie.
“They had to put [the new DVD] out because they’ve been selling out of the other one and so Universal’s like ‘So, let’s do another one’. And now… there’s now a chance there’s going to be another movie”.
Judging from the many emails I've gotten, there may or may not be the slightest bit of confusion here. I think some readers are taking “another one” to mean “Serenity 2,” when Tudyk is really talking about the “Serenity: Collector's Edition" DVD (pictured above) that Universal issued several weeks ago.
In other words, I’m guessing the greenlight boys at Universal have not yet told Tudyk (or Tudyk’s pal, “Serenity” mastermind Joss Whedon) anything like, “So let’s make another ‘Serenity’ movie.” Yet.

ok about the firefly ratings, you really need to take those with a grain of salt... ive seen buffy fans trying to tell everyone to rate his next movie an automatic 10 because "omg WHEDON IS SO COOL OMG WTF YAY!!"
not saying firefly was crap, but you can be sure a large number of people rated 10 because of buffy
you can see with the number of votes that serenity got, that it had more exposure to people who werent whedon-nuts, so that score probably more accurately portrays the quality of the series, because the movie was pretty indicative of the show... and 8 is pretty fair i think, it was a good series.

Actually, I'd give it a 10 :\ Was one of the only TV series that ever caught my attention, I loved everything about the series, not a single flaw to me.

HEY! Watch yerr words right there! There are many SH-1 die hard fans (including me) on board. Yarr wanna walk on plank?
SG-1 brought something new to the TV when it first came out, and so it became classic. But I still agree, it got raped by current shows.
Ps. SG-1 along with ST defines SciFi, don't forget that.

i used to like stargate for the first, like, 2 seasons, then it all became the same shit every week. then johnny boy took over the lead in season 10 was it? and so i started watching again purely for him and claudia black, because farscape is one of the greatest sci-fi shows ever. EVER. fact. anyone who disagrees is a communist.
