Hi everyone.
I recently installed Adobe CS3 Master Collection-ISO on Windows Vista Ultimate. However, nothing happens when I try to run the CS3 applications. Acrobat starts to load then hangs. The other CS3 apps don't load at all. I have looked through the web for solutions and it seems like alot of people are having trouble installing the software suite. I was able to install it without any problems but the apps just won't run. Is this an Adobe CS3 Master Collection-ISO issue or Winodws Vista Ultimate issue? Did anyone else run into this problem? Please help. Thanks in advance.

Adobe really adapted these for XP, because all of the apps work just fine on this OS.
However, if you still want to run it on VISTA, try running it without the skin on. That fixed some issues for me when I tried VISTA.

I also think fisk should be unbanned.

He means running the executables with Aero disabled or in compatibility mode. To disable Aero, go to services and stop the "Desktop Window Manager Session Manager" service or open task manager and kill the process "dwm.exe" (Or just change theme to Windows Classic). To run an application in compatibility mode right click the shortcut, click the compatibility tab and tick both "Disable desktop composition" and "Disable visual themes" and then try running the program.

Moving on though, as I don't think that's your issue. You say that your install completed but the executables won't launch. That sounds to me as though your installation is somehow corrupted / incomplete or conflicting in some way. If you do an Orb / Run and enter (Vista x64) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Photoshop.exe" still nothing happens? Browsed to the Adobe folder and tried launching the .exe's manually?

Did you install any of the beta's previously, such as those released by MAGNiTUDE? If so, remove them completely using Vista's Programs and Features in control panel, then download Adobe's CS3 clean script from here http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html . Such installation errors apply to both XP and Vista, it's not Vista specific.

You could also try dropping to the command line via CMD (Running as Admin of course) and entering "regsvr32 jscript.dll" and also retrying.

If none of the above applies, do you have UAC enabled? Go to control panel / User Accounts and click "Turn off Account control" and reboot Vista then retry installing.

I would recommend you:
Uninstall the entire Adobe suite, removing anything Adobe related;
Run Adobes clean script to wipe everything Adobe from your system;
Disable UAC;
Disable any running Antivirus/Spyware software (in fact reduce the running tasks to the absolute minimum);
Reintall CS3 and get back to us;

Not that it helps I know, but just to let you know that both Adobe CS3 Master Suite and CS3 Production Premium -ISO releases work fine in Vista.

I have done all that before. I never installed an Adobe product on this PC before. I uninstalled CS3 and reinstalled several times with the same issue. I used the Adobe clean script and I also used the Windows Install Clean Up Utility with the same result. UAC is always disabled on my computer seeing how annoying it is. My antivirus was disabled at the time of installation. One thing though...it takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to uninstall. Is that normal? Installation takes about 45min+.

It does say it can take up to 2 hours to uninstall (which is ridiculous), but for me it was about 20 mins. About the same time to install as well.

If you have exhausted all attempts to get the software to work on your current Vista install, then depending on how desperate you are to use the software, you may as well wipe your Vista and reinstall fresh as there is obviously something wrong with your current installation.

With Ultimate / Business you have the Backup and Restore Center which allows you to easily image your OS.

So considering the amount of time you've already wasted trying to get CS3 to work, there's not much to lose imaging your OS, wiping that install, reinstalling Vista, installing CS3 first before anything else and seeing how that attempt goes.
