NOD32.
Don't give me some crappy, half-assed test with no source and expect to sweep me off my feet. Put Kapersky on, and watch your quad-core, 4GB pc crawl.

If you removed it, and your PC is still at crawl, then something else is wrong.
NOD32, best AV.

Using Kaspersky internet security 6 here, loved it so much I actually bought it, people who bad mouth it are usually of the less intelligent or are fanbois of another, I've used just about everything and the only thing I don't like about kaspersky is the interface isn't exactly user friendly at first. I've yet to have anything get past it. Download the trial and they'll let you use it for a month, it's impossible to pirate as they log IP's using the same key so you'll have to buy it but you can get a year subscription pretty damn cheap on ebay.
You'll have to get used to biased opinion on this board. Everyone on here act's like their the ones who programmed whatever they use or work for the company and try promoting there crap.
As of now Kaspersky and NOD32 (could be others im not sure so feel free to addon) are the best A/V's around with their detection rate. I personally used nod32 and didn't seem like it was catching anything till I got a few viruses and said the hell with it. From a personal experience I've yet to get any viruses in the 3-4 months I've had kaspersky, hell I even went to a bunch of porn virus infected sites to give it a run and not a single one made it on my computer. But again, this is from my own experience.
The TWO you DO NOT want to ever give a run is anything symantec makes or mcafee

Don't download dodgy files. I know a lot of people say this but it's true, if you are having trouble with loads of viruses then you should check the source(s).

Curious which version were you using? Only time it makes me crawl is when running a full system scan and I only get occasional system lag.

Kaspersky is a real twitchy AV.
Tested it with 2 identical PC's (brand new, both had a fresh XP Home install from the same disc) and 1 had huuuuuuge slowdowns every couple of minuts. Not to mention long Win startup times.
BTW, NOD32 can be the best AV. It's just how you configure it.

I believe the point of him asking for an alternative to NOD32 is to give him just that...not to continuously recommending the AV he just said he doesn't want to use.

Kaspersky FTW! I'm using it, even paid for it. Never noticed any slowdowns or anything. It catches packed files NOD32 never even noticed and warns about them. Does not in any way gives me any slower system then NOD32 did.
I love Kaspersky!
Behold his GLORY! Bow for the technical master!

I agree, ive been through loads over the years and so far this seems to be the best, its a little over zealous at times - but thats a good thing..
But really the only way to be completely safe is never to go online
@Spykez - cant be cracked? ive been using a cracked vers for months.. or maybe its not cracked and just letting all the crap through? oooooohhh now im paranoid |
You must have gotten a good key than that not many others use. They use a blacklisting system on the key files so if they see it comming from more than 1 IP in a short time they'll blacklist the key, but hey, I only paid like 15 bucks for it on ebay brand new, and as good as it works for me, it's a small price to pay.

i use both on different systems....yes kaspersky is very resource intensive but a good all rounder...
Nod32 is a great AV but needs to be used inconjuction with a good antispyware prog and a good firewall... most of the problems that got thro your nod32 are trojans or spyware...
Yesterday i fixed a laptop for a friend that was riddled with viri, trojans and spyware (the muppet had switched off his ZA net security suite). I used nod32 and spybot to remove all the problems and then checked his system with various other progs to check there was nothing left and it went through fine.
i will check it this evening with http://virusscan.jotti.org/ to see if anything else got through.
as said before its all down to how you configure your av progs....

NOD32 has caught several trojans/viruses for me. I changed setting to auto update daily. Works great..
Well, an alternative would be Symantic Antivirus Corporate. I was using that before and had really no issues.

Haha, how do you know you didn't. Because not every keylogger and virus goes "oehy look at me here I am". Just because your AV didn't find anything doesn't make it "not there" : say baj baj to ur WowZ accoOntz! |
Get out of my systemz you hacker

DeMoN064 wrote: | My PC is already at a crawl because I clicked the .exe assuming it was safe because I trusted NOD32.
Had to use Spybot to get rid of most of the crap it installed (2 Keyloggers) I then used this site to scan the file I clicked on http://virusscan.jotti.org/ thats what the above results I posted show.
Thats why I asked for a GOOD antivirus to get rid of any other crap its installed since NOD32 can't find shit. (Based on my experence) |
sometimes you need to update nod32 manually, and not to trust the auto-update,evem though it makes a woderful job.
I never had any problems with nod32 , works like a charm.

I'm using NOD32 here since 6 months and having absolutely no problems. In addition, I use the free Trend Micro Housecall service twice a month to ensure protection.
Kaspersky products are without a doubt the best and most aggressive Security Programs out there. They really take up alot of ressources and are very strict, thats why I prefer the light and effective NOD32.

I have no tolerance for apps that take alot of resources Also known as 'poor code'.
Kasperky, Symantec - will never use.
Give me NOD, a small, extremely well coded app that does the job.
