|
 |
Need some extra storage space here. As i dont want to cram more stuff in my case (will buy a bigger one but not now) Would the "My Book Premium Edition 320 Gb" from Western Digital do the job ?
Loud, warm other probs?

As its pretty cheap (around 100$ at Amazon.de) I can almost not resist it.

Yea, I have 2 Raptors + a 350Gb WD built in, but I am getting pretty low on space lately and i am to lazy to start burning DVD's Also never had any probs whatsoever. Thing is as this is a external solution I am wondering especially about noise.

This is the smart way to store data. Burning DVDs is just not efficient, plus it's costlier.
The drive looks good, but look for reviews in Google. I remember some site that even provided its reviews with an audio file to see the noise levels of the HDDs.

Why didn't you get a huge 1TB external drive? There were some good one (not that cheap though) a while ago.
[EDIT] Lulz, I was in class when I wrote that, and was trying to listen to the lecturer while typing, so yeah, meant 1TB, not the stoneage 1GB.

Yea...stingy I guess . Got some other stuff to buy at the mo. Just bought new sofas and stuff for around 5000 E. Also need some other new furniture's and crap (not my doing...the wives ) With the new 320 I will have a total of around 850 GB or so...should do me for a bit.
And I can always dump hardware on my son when I get new stuff etc. Come Xmas I will see what I get. I think that bigger Lian-Li and maybe a new Gracard is on the wish list for sure.

Yea, true. But right now my case is as full as it gets, I still have some slots for HD's but its the cables...Running a TAGAN 800W and the cables are pretty thick + the Ninja Scythe that takes up a lot. As it is now my case is pretty optimized when it comes to airflow and cable manegemt. Will upgrade to a bigger case later this year but.

cost more? ehmm not exactly
i can get 330 gig worth of quality dvd's for just 30 euro
3 packs 25st
this drive costs about 90 euro
efficient? yes but just by adding 10 euro i can get practically any 500 gig hd just not in the same pretty USB case
and there is a chance of hd failing

I don't see the point in burning anymore, tbh. Just takes much more space and disks do get damaged sometimes. On the other hand, buying an extra HDD is so simple, hold so much more data and it's even cheaper.

Well the "My Book" is sitting here next to me on my desk and just looks SMART Ok its not the fastest as it has USB 2, but it will do me fine for some time. Love the blue circle light on the front (spins around when its receiving data etc) , goes perfect with the LED color of my G15 keyboard
