An alcoholic man lives in a perpetual stupor while his six children with whom he lives cope as best they can.
I only found old link from 08 that Lutzi made, and that was for the UK version (the original).
Anybody watches this show? I think it's great It's happy and sad at the same time.
Season 4 ended last Sunday, season 5 is scheduled for the next year, and I can't wait to see what happens. I'm totally bummed about the ending tho. This show is like that - you see characters finally getting the break from all the shit that's been happening to them, only to have some other crap happen the next moment.

How did this not already have a thread? I feel like this is one of the few shows where you can't say one or two "main" actors carry it, because literally every performance is great, even by the child actors and secondary characters that have a screentime of 2 minutes. Emmy Rossum is seriously amazing, the fact the she doesn't have an Emmy for her role is a fucking disgrace. Shameless also has the best gay couple on TV which actually feels like real people, not an obnoxious mix of stereotypes. The story is gripping and the cinematography is absolutely beautiful (dat frozen lake Michigan shot at the end of S04E12). Terrific soundtrack too, can't count how many bands featured on the show ended up in my playlist. The show is definitely worth watching.

qft!
And William H. Macy's performance is just ridiculously good. He's a character you love to hate. And yet in his drunken speeches he touches many sensitive issues and actually makes a point
Plus I love how the show isn't hiding the ugly side of life, and how the surroundings can fuck the person. Every character has major flaws, but it's what makes us human. We are all flawed in some way, and when you have a shitty setting they get amplified.
Not to mention how the show touches many 'sticky' issues, from poverty, violence (and the connection of those two), mental illnes, alcoholism, right down to being in a closet situation and how fucked up that can be.
I just love the show.

Just started watching this show a few weeks ago, about to start the third season. Can't believe it stayed under my radar for this long, but at least I get to watch all 4 seasons without waiting now

I was kinda sad after the ending of this season, especially Micky and Ian story :\
As I said, when everything seems to finally get better, some shit has to happen to them. I don't usually attach to characters in tv shows, but this one genuinely made me sad...

A perfect ending to Sheila's story arc. I'm gonna miss her for sure, but from a character development standpoint it was really satisfying to see her finally free herself from Frank.
Mandy's departure felt kinda rushed, the character deserved better. I'm assuming she got a movie role or something. Hope she comes back sooner or later, preferably without that piece of shit of a boyfriend.
Can't wait for Fiona to screw up the relationship with the musician guy when Jimmy shows up, because of course she will
And WTF Debbie
Started S04 some days ago. Currently on E04. This season so far has many more funny moments, but also some sad ones than the previous seasons
This season remembers me a bit of The OC, which i also loved
Enthoo Evolv ATX TG // Asus Prime x370 // Ryzen 1700 // Gainward GTX 1080 // 16GB DDR4-3200
Watching S05 now. Have to watch in english, as the german dub is not available yet
Sometimes it's hard for me to understand what people are saying though, even with subtitles (especially the actor of Carl)
But so far it seems it could become the best season yet
I thought one of the ideas of the show is that they're totally happy living like that.
They don't know any better I guess.

To be honest he wasn't my favourite character in the first seasons either. But i guess because he appears again after such a long break feels somewhat cool for me
I fucking love this show even though it gets pretty depressing sometimes.
Spoiler:
The Mickey/Ian stuff was heartbreaking. Fiona just keeps fucking up, and it'll probably get much worse And now even Kev and V are on bad terms, who would've thought. Something positive needs to happen before the season is over.

Spoiler:
Yeah like Debbie getting pregnant, Carl busted for drug dealing.
And I really hate Fiona more and more with each season
Spoiler:
It seems like they're moving away from the creepy stuff in Debbie's storyline after the Matty incident, so a pregnancy doesn't seem very likely. But it's Shameless, so you never know
Carl will definitely get busted, but I have a feeling they'll just turn that into a joke somehow.
