My friend just got a second hand XBOX and i want to mod it up for him, i have a couple of 160gig hdds hanging around an i want to add that in so we can run games from it.

Whats the best method for this from experience?

And is it possible to download isos, ftp them over to the box and just play, is it as simple as that once its modded?

I have looked at Xbox-scene, but there are so many methods, kind of want the easiest where i dont have to spend any money.

My xbox gets used daily - mainly for movies..most practical console i ever owned.
I chipped mine years ago. Put in a 300GB HD. Installed Evolution-X DASH. Use latest XBMC to watch all my flicks. I FTP all my files from pc to xbox. Never play anything from dvd. Stream internet video (youtube, shoutcast, tv stations, radio stations, podcasts, list goes on and on)

Yes, Evo-x let's you do everything. There are versions around that include all programs needed, i.e. ripping programs, dvd-players, ftp and so on.
