Though I think Atheist are a bit too radical in my opinion.... even though it doesn't really matter.
Though as long as they don't believe in fairy tales, and don't lie to themselves it's a whole lot better than believing in something you've never seen in your life.
I'm agnostic, I don't know if there's a god or if there isn't. It would have been a lot more easier for me to believe there's a god... it would have been a great relief, but I won't and I can't lie to myself, therefore I believe in the truth. And the truth is that I can't know if there's a god or not, therefore I won't bother myself with that matter.

That they are too Anti-god or too Anti-Religion.
I mean, you can't really know if there's a good or not, so when you blindly say that there's no god, it's the same as blindly believing in the bible/god. You base your beliefs in something you are not certain about. Though it's still much more 'mature' than believing blndly in god.

That just ain't so. Although I cannot prove it, I am certain there is no omnipotent, omniknowing, omni-whatever creature in this universe.
Do I believe in aliens? Yes. Do I believe in a mythological bullshit creature only referenced to in books written by weed-smooking fanatics? Hell no!
Ok, maybe I just proved your first point

I also believe in Aliens since it's logical to believe they are there. We have all the reason to believe they exist, and not even one not to.
On the other hand god's existence is a much more complicated matter.Because it will have a huge meaning to our existence. If he doesn't exist, we can't possibly think of any way that created the universe, but he exist, we can't think of anything that have created him.
So with both choices we're in the same problem.... who's the big boss?
And of course that no rational guy can be certain about anything. And that's why religious people are usually weaker than non-religious people. Religious people can believe in something they have never seen, but only heard about, rational people will never do that.

@X_Dror
Yeah after death if we are good we go to heaven and live in the next room where god lives. After 1015 years of that mormon lifestyle you get tired and ask god to destroy your soul. The end.

I'm an atheist and I'm not like that at all. I just purely don't give a shit and find I've got better things than to pray to a false figure that was created by the church to scam peasants savings into thinking they were actually being protected by someone.

If you don't give a shit your a type of agnostic.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agnostic
Quote: | Recently suggested variations include:
* Strong agnosticism (also called hard agnosticism, closed agnosticism, strict agnosticism, absolute agnosticism)—the view that the question of the existence or nonexistence of god(s) is unknowable by nature or that human beings are ill-equipped to judge the evidence. A strong agnostic would say "I don't know, and neither do you."
* Weak agnosticism (also called mild agnosticism, soft agnosticism, open agnosticism, empirical agnosticism, temporal agnosticism)—the view that the existence or nonexistence of God(s) is currently unknown but is not necessarily unknowable, therefore one will withhold judgment until/if more evidence is available.
* Apathetic agnosticism—the view that there is no proof of either the existence or nonexistence of God(s), but since any God(s) that may exist appear unconcerned for the universe or the welfare of its inhabitants, the question is largely academic anyway.
* Ignosticism—the view that the concept of God(s) as a being is meaningless because it has no verifiable consequences, therefore it cannot be usefully discussed as having existence or nonexistence.
* Model agnosticism—the view that philosophical and metaphysical questions are not ultimately verifiable but that a model of malleable assumption should be built upon rational thought. This branch of agnosticism does not focus on a deity's existence.
* Agnostic theism (also called religious agnosticism)—the view of those who do not claim to know existence of God(s), but still believe in such an existence. (See Knowledge vs. Beliefs)
* Agnostic atheism—the view of those who do not know of the existence or nonexistence of god(s), and do not believe in god(s) |

Neither believers or atheists are dumb fucks in my humble opinion its just two different ways to approach life and its problems.

I personally don't care what people believe in. It can be the flying spaggettii monster if it makes them happy and gives their life meaning. I try to judge people on who they are and how they treat others. I have my own personal code.
I do have a problem when religious people start to influence the government.
- Don't tell me stores should be closed on Sun or I shouldn't do things on certain days.
- Don't tell me my kids should have to say the Lords Prayer in classrooms.
- Don't tell me I am going to hell because I don't believe in some messah.
- Don't let religion influence mass medical decisions, like stem cell research and abortion (which I believe to be a personal choice between a women and her doctor)
- And don't interfere with my sex life and tell me who I can or can't marry, or if I want to marry at all
I have met lost of religious people who were great people and didn't push their views on others.
That is just some of the stuff I have to say.

you also go to heaven if you pay enough offcourse.
believing in "divine beeings" has always been around, ever since we were cavemen and didnt know what caused the wind. Maybe its part of beeing human and realizing your own existence. Either way, we now know what creates the wind and the windgod isnt worshipped anymore.
If religion can help you overcome a obstacle in your life (of any type) then so be it. ill even pray with you if you want. but if you arent open for every other religion and non believers (like me btw) then go fuck yourself
For me, a god doesnt excist. period. but if you wanto believe, go ahead, just dont be a fanatic
and ²@pistol. all of the points you mention are so true, especially the fourth one, that pisses me off so much
