On my wife's insistence I bought a used PSP from Ebay, it came with FW 2.80
How do I put on a custom FW and which one should I use?
I found a site calo-hacks.com, the guy has downgraders for all fw, is it reliable?

As far as I know, 3.52 M33-4 + irshell 3.62 WILL allow usbhostfs. I can test it out later today.
Although buying a mem card isn't a big deal these days. I just bought a sandisk ultra II 4gb mem stick for like $70.

If usb works, that would be best, because the psp is going to be close to my pc all day.

Well I know the feature is definitely there, just not sure of compatibility, but I'll check it out later for ya'.

Stooz, I was reading on installing irshell and it said to get the usbhostfs drivers for windows. Do you have a link to those? Also will this work on vista?
is the 32mb stick enough to downgrade the firmware and install irshell? I wont be getting the 2gb stick for another week.

no 32mb memstick is not big enough to upgrade to the latest M33 firmware
these upgrades need 150.pbp and 3xx.pbp which is definately bigger than 32mb

bloody hell!! the psp was delivered by UPS today and it seems it has 2.82 and not 2.80 as the seller mentioned in the auction. Also its the dreaded ta-082 mobo. I then tried to update to 3.50 to downgrade using lumines game. And it gave me an error saying the configuration on the psp is not correct. On googling I found this error means the keys were corrupted in a previous downgrading operation, so I cant install any firmware higher than 3.11 because of the sony checks. I have 2 options now, update to 3.03 and downgrade using an unpatched gta or update to 3.11 and use lumines. Both these games are selling for a premium on Ebay, so dont know which one to get!!!!

yeah it has to be the version which has the 2.0 fw update. The new ones come with 2.60 update. I rented one from my local game store and it had 2.6 on it.

i got a copy from my rental and it was unpatched. I managed to downgrade and install 3.52 M33. Also installed irshell and it works great. I am going to see if nethostfs works, so I can be without usb cable...that would be awesome.
