had a wonderful system fuck-over (not fuck up, fuck-over) a few days ago... everythings working fine now, but im wondering, whats the BEST way to back up my systems most important files... best program to create a start-up disk or something just in case something goes south and i cant boot up windows (corrupt registry, or something like that. i DONT really want to rely on windows repair. newbie question i know, but ive had never bothered to look into it until now... hopefully you know exactly what im asking for...

Acronys True Image I know is good at making backup images.. Driver Genius was great at grabbing all the drivers you need.

Ive always just made a backup of my system partition with norton ghost... But Its not cause I think its the best... I just ended up with a free legit version of systemworks once and tried it out.. Didnt take long for me to uninstall it tho! lol The only norton program that didnt get uninstalled was ghost because I found it simple to use and didnt think to get something different..
Ill have to check into that aconys true image....

there are some good (windows) live-cds / dvds around with alot of good restoration and troubleshooting and problem solving progs on board.
this is a good and free one for windows and linux hard- and software troubleshooting http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
the other one i know of and have used is a windows live-cd / dvd called "super windows pe", which has the above boot cd integrated and ALOT more, like numerous windows preinstallation environments. An overview for one of them can be found here: http://www.geocities.com/spacht_2000/
those are illegal (but can be found via p2p pretty easily), and the only legal way would be to own all the programs and make one yourself with Bart PE http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/
The other way is the above mentioned disk-backup as not everything can be remedied with the live-cds
edit: the newest super windows seems to be from 2005, if you wamt to try to hunt it down
