So, I'm bored, and i want to experiment with something - so why not try installing OSX as a dualboot on my PC?

But what requirements do I need to meet?
What is the easiest/best way?

Not sure about dual booting.

Installing the latest Snow Leopard is a little problematic and requires some work with the ISO and HDD, so you should just install one of the 10.5.8 Hackintosh builds (Kalyway, iDeneb, iATKOS) and see if it is something you'd get bored with, or worth tinkering with. If you want to proceed, just google for some of the guides on upgrading Hackintosh 10.5.8 builds to latest Snow Leopard builds (you would have needed a working OS X installation anyway, so installing 10.5.8 was not a waste). It's very slow in VM. Even with hardware virtualization, it is still very slow. It would be faster to install on a new HDD/thumb drive, test for 10 minutes and format. Razz

Well I think I might go with iDeneb then, now comes the question if i should try to install it on an old unused AMD machine instead - XP-processor (don't remember the clock speed), 512mb ram and an integrated GPU Laughing

If oyu're gonna go that far, better to revert back to the VM option, Virtualbox or VMWARE.

Before each MacOS boot spray yourself with STR8, it acts as antifaggotry.

You must use a SSE2 CPU at least, preferably SSE3. Wink

I wish the developers of PearPC returned and made a x64 version with support for modern OSX'es.

Why would they? PearPC is a PowerPC emulator, while modern OS X runs natively on x86/x64 hardware. Confused

Afaik you can't install modern OSX in VMware or in other virtual machines. We need a PearPC for x64 OSX. Wink

Lolwut Confused Of course you can. Laughing

The only thing missing for 1:1 native install is the lack of EFI in normal PCs (and inherently VMWare and similar), but this is fixed very easily with loaders. Wink
And yes, x64 version works. Smile

Yes, Virtualbox supports MacOS X, too, in newer versions.

Seems you need Empire EFI or something like that, like Inatan said.

Seems rather slow though. Not that I care really, I'm more of the "I want to try and see if it works"-type than "I want to actually use it" when it comes to emulators/virtual machines. That's why it was "fun" to try out PPC-OSX in PearPC while sticking the finger up to Apple, but it was utterly useless to me beyond that.

Yeah, emulation of OS X is slow... But running it natively with a boot loader, it's faster than on real Macs Laughing

If you are still interested in 10.6.*, take a look at iAtkos S3. Wink

I did this on my comp, had to mod the bios myself with a hex editor(almost shat myself when flashing), then installed on separate HDD with GPT partition table and once installed I had to install different drivers to get everything working. Took me weeks in total with just the regular snow leopard disc and I wound up using the friggin thing for like an hour and then went back to windows. I hope it's easier with the new iatkos for you.

Well, with the new iATKOS you just select the drivers for the hardware you have and it works. Razz

Post your specs and I will assess its capacity for faggotry.
