I formatted today. Reinstalled all, video drivers, windows updates, codecs (xp codec pack), vob sub, etc.

I noticed that any video over 350 MB tears in the corner. Quite noticeable.

Any 350MB videos I have play fine, but anything over that has a huge chunk which is tearing in the upper right corner. In both Media player and Media player classic.

Certainly didn't happen before.

Anyone have any ideas?

Try changing the video renderer, from overlay to vmr or vice versa.

Try going to FFDshow video decoder --> output( bottom left), enabling YV12, hit apply and ok.

Thanks guys. It was the acceleration slider in Media Player (I had to turn it completely off) and the overlay in MPC. I remember changing the overlay in MPC a long time ago, but I didn't recall turning the acceleration down in regular media player before.

Turning down acceleration in MP is usually not recommended as it degrades image quality.
