Congrats. I disagree that university is pointless. Speciailly in the IT Industry anyway. If you want to come out of education at least in my industry and start on £30,000 or more, you've got to have gotten a degree.

All serious employers in my country won't employ anyone other than graduate level applicants.

So, congrats again!

@Horrordee thanks for congrads, and I also think that degree helps alot, otherwise I wouldn't go to university... It helps you find better job, so 5 years of studying pays back... thnx again

If it's anything like here, depends on which university and course you chose (course? is that the word? My english fails with only 3 hours of sleep)

Anyway, congrats, and once again, if it's anything like here, enjoy your freshman year, it's one of the (if not the) best

Im in the same country as you. If i had gone to university i would have done completely the wrong thing, my a-level decisions were rushed and ridiculous.

I got recognised for my current job on talent alone rather than a piece of paper.

It completely depends on what course you're doing and what industry you intend to become involved in. What is your current profession?

For me, a degree is essential to pursuing the career I want.

designer/illustrator...

i have no qualifications in art and design. it has been a hobby from a young age. i was told that i would need some sort of qualification, and yet here i am doing what i love.

im not dismissing university completely, but for some people it is completely pointless. ive had more LIFE experience in the last 6 years of my life than most people who go to university.

The reason you managed to succeed is the only option you had was a BA anyway, which lets be honest isn't worth the paper it's written on.

As I and someone else also stated, it depends on the industry. Most people in art just blag their way into industry, as an education doesn't really help your profession.
