Never used them too, maybe they are yelling this out as a great victory against p2p to try to convince the less informed, so effectively getting some result in the end, with those people stopping using those sites and maybe never starting using other ways, could it be ?
There are only 10 kinds of people : those that understand binaries and those that don't.

Yeah i think that's the best thing to do. I'm moving that way too, now i'm testing usenet using a newsserver that gives block accounts, since i don't download that much, then i'll surely try the best that offers encrypted connection. Sure it costs something and it's not as immediate as other way of dl, but i'm sure it's the way to go, at least surely for me.

I mean that it's a bit more "complicated" (note the ") than downloading for example emule, starting it, searching something and hit download.
Most people i know doesn't even try to understand all the options and what they mean and what they do and WHY they are there to be selected and set.
When i tried to explain the world of usenet, what is, how it function (and only then using the easier way of doing things, i mean, before using a nzb indexing site i tried to understand how it works behind that easy way, at least having an overview of it !) to some of my friends that normally use emule (as i said without setting anything, just as they download it) or a bittorrent client, all of them said me in a similar way "hey but it's easier to use emule ... i'm not interested in it ... and then i would have to pay ! are you out of mind ?".
That's it what i mean that (for someone) it's not as easy and useless way of dl ...

funny, i can't do same thing without paying any extra to any usenet and not worry about feds knocking on my door
then again i don't live in country that everyone hates
on the other hand if feds will want to rape someone no encryption will save u | Your ISP providing it? Or your mom ?
Mu old ISP did, but nothing like paying for it I guess. Used the trail at usenet.net. Nice, but 2rentz gets me what I need |

i simply see no reason at all in paying for something that i can get for free anyway one way or another, but emule is lame and slow

I could agree with you, but I don't pay a whole lot, A LOT less than giganews anyways. I like having everything easy to find right there, knowing my speeds will be max virus free, not having to upload and so forth. And being able to get ahold of stuff that is YEARS old and still from a scene release.

might as well spend them on peanuts rather than giving someone for no apparent reason
i can find practically anything on private sites and i always get it as fast as possible virus free
90% i'm getting movies and 360 games which simply can't contain any viruses and if anything NOD does the job

Besides, when it comes to HD stuff (movies, tv shows), the scene currently sucks hd ballz! So torrents are the only way to tackle that front.
