seems every goddamn time I have to do something with vista, it gets worse, and worse. theres never a solution... and its always bad.
now...
I cannot access any content on dozens of discs I have.
photos, video, raw footage, raw pics... music...
anything, thats a form of media, seems to be blocked.
after pissing around with a idiot at MS for 2o minutes... heres what I found out.
media, burned to a disc, that was not burned in Vista, cannot be played back in vista or accessed.
wheres the middle finger smiley? I need that right now...
if I could have reached through that phone, I would have strangled that guy the second he told me that, cause I knew it was something ridiculous like that.
man, every time I feel sorta ok with vista again...
something happens to elevate my hate of vista to uncontrollabable levels.
I cannot believe that I am expected to use this OS as my main OS for the next 5 years.
sure... I can stick with XP.
but I am a gamer... I want DX10.
no vista, no DX10.
but GODDAMN.... I wanna just find the MS parking lot, and just take a bat to every car there.....
I hate vista....
I hate vista....
I hate vista....
I hate vista....
The only DRM trouble i had so far was with a DVD's obsolete protection... Although more should come with HDCP content not compatible with my VGA screen.
I have no idea what the problem is...
I've spent a hour on google, searching for any form of "disable vista CD content check", mixing up the words... trying to look into hackers sites, delving deep into pirating sites... anywhere.
I dont care anymore about whats legal with vista.
if I have to crack things in vista, that microsoft doesnt want me to do... to get a functional OS... from now on, I am gonna.
I just dont care any more.
vista is so damn bad, that I will take any solution I can find, no matter where it comes from, even if that means hacking the OS to do it.
my last major blow out with vista, was, when I tried to get HDDVD's to play... only to find that vista will not allow you to play a HDDVD on a screen thats not HDCP... which for me, means they expect me to buy a new screen just to be able to watch movies... that I paid for.
I just bought this LCD last summer... a dell 2005 FPW... and now vista says its not good enough?
oh hell no.
hacking is becoming my new hobby, cause vistas so damn bad, that often the solutions are not exactly something MS wants you to do.
did I get HDDVD's to play on my OS, without having to buy a whole new LCD?
yep sure did.
was it legal?
probably not.
do I care?
hell no.
if this is the kinda thing I have to resort to, to get a functional OS... then thats what I am gonna do.
I am tired of trying to find solutions with MS, on how to fix various problems.
thier solutions always seem to either require me reinstalling XP... or buying some new hardware that I dont need.
with the media problem... I havent found a solution yet.
but I do have a few good leads now...
what I can say, is when media is blocked, you can easily see it.
what happens is... you can check the properties of the disc, and see that say 4 gigs of data is burned to that disc... but you cannot access the disc at all. vista says nothing is there.
upon putting the discs in my friends laptop yesterday... all discs are fine.
then do something like put in my copy of fear... which also is a DVD.. and explore the disc... and then everything shows up just fine....
also, download some movie trailers... burned them in vista, with nero 7.6... explore the disc.... they work just fine.
so the drive... and discs are all fine.
I just cannot access any form of media, that I burned over the last few years... unless it was burned with Vista.
god I hate vista....
"Thats no prob kanee!Suck your cock!I don't worry about that bullfucking bullfuck!Maybe we can't fuck online but that's no fucking problem! And hell yes I will fuck those bastard hard as I fucking can like a fucking bull!" - Supermax2004
Losion is your Vista original , i mean the "KEY" because that problems are only on banned keys - DRM blocks the basic functions of this OS when its activated with a banned key
That means the paranoia about M$ manipulating your computer is not completely absurd ... if Vista goes online and the M$ server finds a blacklisted key it can deactivate basic functions of Vista - wow...
I havent any deeper knowledge about this topic but if thats true why is M$ not using this method to make ANY pirated version of Vista inoperational??? I am sure at M$ they get any "cracked" version of Vista or scene release, too, to see how this problem can be "solved".
And every "cracked" version, OEM or not, needs (and has) a key to work with. Why not blacklisting everyone of these keys and all cracked versions are getting inoperational?
Can anybody explain me why M$ is NOT using this method (for example for these NoPE releases)???
I see... blacklisting would mean that "honest customers" of DELL computers using these keys could no longer work with their (legal) Vista, too. M$ does not want to enrage these customers.
Yes, that makes sense. (oh well, they could do a blacklisting and afterwards give new keys to all DELL customers which may be affected, too... hmmm, no, too complicated, I presume) Thanks, LeoNatan
uurghhhhhhhhh.....i've found out some new totally rediculous things !
I changed my DVD drive and behold, when I boot Vista, it tells me I have to activate my copy. When I try to do so, it tells me the product key is already in use.
So I have to waste 30 Minutes on the phone to get MS to give me a new product key.
The last timne this happened was when I changed my motherboard. Ok, maybe in that case it is understandable. But changing a GoDAMN DVD drive?????
This is a full retail version of Vista home premium. Not an OEM, not a pirate.
I would be better off buying 30 copies of Vista from China. It would be cheaper than the 45 minutes I spent on the phone.
Who is going to refund my money for this?????
What a piece of CRAP
and the media problem is still there.
(and for some really smart people; posts like "dumb noobs" or "vista su*kers" dont really help. Its better you say nothing than that.)
tbh you should have checked about hd-dvd and hdcp before you got your hd-dvd drive.... it isn't just a vista thing was decided by the group behind hd-dvd...same as blue-ray...its copy protection... i dont know if you can play hd-dvd content on xp legally without hdcp but you cant blame vista for that...
as for dvd's with media on them not playing in vista when burnt under xp etc... sounds like c**p to me.... i have a massive media collection on dvds...avis,mpegs,vobs, audio, pics etc etc all burnt under xp/mce/server2003... i have no issues at all playing them back under vista ulti... are the discs you have issues with readable using isobuster or similar under vista? cant see how vista can be messing with non c/p media...
i have said this before and will again... i'm no vista fanboi but i have no real issues with it. no performance issues (+- 3% benchmark against xp) no problems with 90% of games (only those using dx8 control setup). no issues with media, no issues with proaudio s/w (now drivers are sorted). if you dont like it dont use it, go back to xp... surely you guys didnt pay good money for it before trialling it?? surely you didnt wipe ur xp install, rather than dual boot it?? surely you didnt read the pages and pages of essential info to be found on these very forums (big up to leo natan & co)...if so then stop bitching & moaning and get over it...
god i remember bull***t like this with every new os release....its getting very boring...'ive got so much money ive bought a top end rig & vista & dont know my arse from my elbow'...
if vista is soo crap then try going back to 98, or 95, or god forgive dos
sorry rant over....tis too hot...& too many muppets about
I have no idea what the problem is...

LOLOLOL
I have CD's burned from like 4 years ago all from XP and they all work fine in Vista..
Every damn one of them...
I'm calling BS on that one..
In fact I just re-installed FEAR last night which was burned on my XP install like 18 months ago... Worked fine.
Accessed my pictures that I burned to a DVD over 3 years ago.... Worked fine...
And all my MP3 Backup CD's... worked fine....
The problem my friend is something else and you are just blaming the OS...
Because its sooooo cool to diss Vista nowadays isnt it? You need to keep away from Slashdot.
I have been running Vista since Febuary and I totally ditched my XP install over three months ago.. I can burn and copy DVD's in Vista by using apps that rip the DVD (you just cant copy it via Explorer anymore - Big DRM protection there!)
And the fact you didnt know about the HDCP Display issue with BlueRay/HDDVD just goes to show the full effect of your ignorance. That info was available over a YEAR ago. and like stated before it was NOTHING to do with M$, it was the Blueray and HDDVD developers that instigated that prerequisit.
Just with the way you are bitching and crying over it, Im calling ID10-T Error here

Umm so use the BIOS hack or BIOS Emulation hack and NEVER ACTIVATE AGAIN...
You say you are a hacker, but you havent even put the OEM VLK With BIOS hack on so you can change your hardware as often as you want, and never see it activate again..

Pretty simple actually, from the get go, MS stated that they would only deactivate some features ind Vista. The first reason is, they do know its gonna get hacked anyway, but the second reason, and more importantly... They rather have users use a pirated copy of windows, than a os from a competitor.
