Hello there!

I just bought a router and set it up at home.....and it works just fine.

Until now I've used Norton Internet Security Firewall....but after plugging in the router I thought maybe I should turn it off? Or what do you think folks? Pros and cons..? Does it give better security with "double" firewalls...or does it "slow down" things..?

And if I should use a software firewall....maybe I should choose Win XP:s that comes with SP2 (heard it's quite good)

Hope to get some answers from wiser ppl then myself Razz

Thanx!!

/P

It' very unnesecary unleass you are afraid of someone who hacks you from the inside. If you trust everyone at your office or your home it should be ok. I only use the router and never had any problems. And yes the sp2 firewall is ok if you need one.

I would even uninstall it if I were you. Sorry to say it but Norton really sucks. For antivirus I would use Nod32 or Kaspersky antivirus.

F-secure is ok, but still not one of the best ones. I've heard some reports that F-secure can couse bluescreens and other problems.
You don't need to buy nod32. First you can download the scene release and if you like then you can decide if you like to buy it.
There should be some demo on this site http://www.nod32.com/download/download.htm.

edit: Avast is also a very good antivirus program and It's free to. Here's the link: http://www.avast.com.
