Utilizing the unique powers of the Nintendo Wii system, Retro Studios once again takes us to the beyond with bounty Hunter Samus Aran.
The Galactic Federation's Base Sector Zero is under attack by Space Pirates. Samus must boot up the generator to restore the defense systems. But at the end of her path, someone awful is waiting for her. The war initiated by Dark Samus and the Space Pirates rages across many planets as they attempt to corrupt each with Phazon seeds. Players use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to explore alien landscapes, hunt for weapons and information, and destroy the seeds. Saving the planets from Corruption isn't enough, though. Eventually, players must take down Samus' mortal enemy, Dark Samus. Besides using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers to pull off amazing feats like aiming and blasting in midair or at a full run, players also will have an array of different weapons at their disposal.

Works on FW 2.2U, didn't make me upgrade to 3.0 or anything.
Initial impression; pretty fun! The controls are a zillion times better than Red Steel and the first batch of FPS games on the Wii.
All the little interactions are fun to do (like opening doors and stuff).
Gameplay feels solid, graphics are eh. I've only just gotten through some of the beginning so we'll see how it holds up, could have a winner here though.

Could be that the problem is that your console is not updated to v3.0E. I have not tested the game myself, so I can't know for sure. It says something about this on the Wii region patcher compability list (Not sure if I'm allowed to put the link in the post, my advice is to google it).
Not sure if the titles listed there have been patched or not.

Just got it to work - updated my wii to v3.0e, patched iso with RegionFrii_v1.21_WII-SYNDiCATE to PAL region, burned. It will not work if you will use brickblocker.

The game makes you update, but it is not the FW3.0 that it does, it's something else.
I ran the update on the disc as well, and my console is still 2.2U.

I hate these little secret updates. I wonder what was updated?
Maybe a small patch so the game complies with Wiiconnect 24? Who knows, I just hate secret updates. I want to know in text as to what the update actually contains.

The update with this game creates an extra news and weather channel on PAL consoles. This does not brick the console but there is some debate as to whether it could cause a problem with future updates.
I've had duplicate channels for a while now as Pokemon and Big Brain also cause this problem but i've sucessfully updated to 3.0e since without bricking, but there is a chance it may become problematic in future. There is currently no way of deleting these extra channels and the extra channels do not work.

imo im not gonna risk it, ill just wait for either brickblocker to get a custom update for mp3 or just wait for pal release, its just not worth the risk of having a nice useless piece of white plastic in my living room.

Just played it a bit
well... I love metroid I just wish the graphics weren't so ... errrr... gamecubish!!
specially after finishing bioshock it shows.
anyway, looks like another AAA with the problems that the platform brings to the game.
not sure if I like the controls either need more time to figure it out

wow..I never thought I would say this but I love this game....for the first time, Nintendo has got the controls for an fps just right, its almost as good as playing with mouse/kb and the way they have implemented interaction with objects is also innovative. Just played the opening sequence but looks like I will be playing this for some time. If you are waiting for a solid game for the wii, it doesnt get any better than this one....

Isnt it Retro Studios that got the controls right since they are the developers?
May the NFOrce be with you always.
