Bet you see a lot of threads like this around here. Anyways, heres what I'm thinking:

Quote:

CASE: ($20 off Mail-in Rebate) Xion III Gaming Mid-Tower 420W Case with Side Window (BLACK COLOR)
CPU: (Sckt775)Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6600 CPU @ 2.4GHz 1066FSB 2x2MB L2 Cache EM64T
MOTHERBOARD: (Quad-Core Supports) Asus P5N-E nForce 650i SLI Chipset LGA775 FSB1333 DDR2 Mainboard
MEMORY: (Req.DDR2 MainBoard)2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 DDR2/800 Dual Channel Memory (Corsair Value Select or Major Brand)
VIDEO CARD: NEW!!! NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB 16X PCI Express (Major Brand Powered by NVIDIA)
VIDEO CARD 2: NONE
LCD Monitor: NONE
HARD DRIVE: Single Hard Drive (250GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 8MB Cache 7200RPM HDD)
Data Hard Drive: NONE
Optical Drive: (Special Price) 18X DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW DRIVE DUAL LAYER (BLACK COLOR)
Optical Drive 2: 16X DVD ROM (BLACK COLOR)
SOUND: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO

Price is $1585 at Cyberpower.

Now, it'd be nice to see something cheaper, or somehow squeeze more performance in for less money. I want this rig to last me a long time Smile

Any suggestions?

You lucky Americans. Here in Europe hardware cost at least 50% more than in your country.

Well I would change the motherboard to the i680 chipset, its the best solution if you are planning to pump that E6600 to the performance capabilities of a Quad core CPU!

Notice how he has the price in Dollars, if it's US dollars thats about 1200 Euros, so he can get it for cheaper then you. Question is, why did you not realise that in the first place? Razz

TBH I don't think he is making a saving at all, I built a similar spec machine for 700£ but my parts were better.

You just ordered it piece by piece, eh? I'm thinking about doing that to save some $$$ but really it isn't that big of a deal to me. I just don't want to go over $1.6k.

Yeah I got it bit by bit, you will find that "pre-builds" make you pay the top of the line prices for the lower end gear, its how they make the money. Oh plus they charge you for "labour" lol..

The problem is that here in Europe something that you pay 500$ we buy for 600€ and i remember you that 500$/1.3=385€.

I have bought a compaq laptop for 1000€ in Italy while in USA the price was 800$.

Should have quoted it in the first place then. I thought you were replying to the original post. Cool
