when im converting a Divx/Wmv HDTV video to a DVD format (vob) in nero,it can take up to 4 hours(!!!).
it there any way to speed it up,or its just because of my ancient cpu?
Youre cpu is not good for encoding. Intel pwns in encoding. Im so sorry but youre cpu is crap for encoding. Get c2d or wait few months and get c2d with 4 cores. For me to encode movie it needs max 1h.
Well because no other part of pc can make calculations except gpu but gpu isnt made for that. Faster/bettar CPU faster encoding. If you really encode much you should consider upgrade. You can get AM2 and some amd x2 proc for really cheap price. Usually amd cpu + mobo is cheaper then c2d cpu.
