Howdy!

I wonder if there are any PC-games with realistic fighting-moves? I have heard thatThe Chronicles Of Riddick has some serious first-person punches.. Wink
What I am searching, is NOT a game with "arcadish" kung-fu moves. If someone can help me with the search, it will be respected!

Enter the matrix. It has full motion capture moves made by a real martial artist. And there are a million different moves, which you can combine in almost endless variations. You get different punches/kicks depending on which movement key you press, and then you get even more different moves when you use focus, plus tons of counter attack moves and throws. The hand to hand fighting in that game is simply the best EVER. Too bad the gunfighting sucks, and that all enemies have unlimited ammo which means you have to run up to them and disarm them if you want to fight them hand to hand.

The Fight Night series on xbox are the best for real fight moves/blocks, with fight night 3 on 360 being the best.

Its a shame no-one built on the stuff in the age old Die by the Sword. Yes the game is crap to standards nowadays, but that combat system had potential.... Now if you could play that kind of game with a Wii style controller... blisss..

Any intelligent person reading in to my post would realise I jumped over to 360 because there is jack shit with real fight moves on PC.

TCoR had nice fighting mechanics, but nothing beats Condemned: Criminal Origins.

Dark Messiah of M&M is also great.

Man that game was hilariously good fun. I remember when it first came out I didn't have an optical mouse... such fun times Crying or Very sad I agree, it would work well (in layman's theory) on the Wii but there's no surprise the idea didn't take off.

Might be fun to dig it out again and experience it once more...

Or that The Godfather game. You just grabbed people and smashed them against walls or on counters, felt very very realistic.

Combat in Enter the Matrix was really good fun incidentally. I've said before that I enjoyed playing that game from beginning to end (closing my eyes during the vehicle side-missions, naturally). Was a complete experience and the combat was very satisfying. Somewhat basic, linear and familiar game - but it works.

I always experienced Path of Neo as THE matrix game if we're talking about a sophisticated combat system, the gunfights on the other hand were even worse that EtM. I mean you could take a sword off the wall and start slashing twenty opponents in slo-mo... Was that possible in EtM?

To be honest I don't really remember much about the Path of Neo (except that I had to unplug my IDE cables to play the damn thing), so I couldn't say. If you think it is then that's probably the case.

m...in the beginning i was thinking you mean games like robot arena 2, its not human fighting but its alot of fun , you can create your special robot and install on it special weapons like hooks and saw's and chian's) and you jump into the arena against other oponents to a live and death fight;)

i was adicted to this game.

Nope, any intelligent person reading the topic and question would see its about PC games not xbox games. There is console part of the forum, so youre thoughts should stay there. Laughing

Anyway if you dont mind gfx get Die by the sword. Its from 1998 but gameplay ftw. ^^

Plus the fact that its in the PC Games Arena section should give you a clue as well Wink

I beleive Die by the Sword is abandonware now and you can get it from the Underdogs if it is..

What about Jedi Knight 2 and academy? Sword fighting in those two were one of the best.
Btw, whats with Raven lately? Once one of the best studios, now I haven't heard nothing since mediocre Quake.

riddick had THE best fighting mechanics in any game i've ever played
and a damn fine game still even if it didn't have any of that

there was some kinda-fun swordfighting in dark messiah
just a bit awkward perhaps
i just mostly enjoyed kicking people from high places

FEAR had the jump kick, which was to me really the only thing that kept me playing it through

die by the sword was awesome back in the day
the story mode was just damn sadistic and i never got far
95% of the time i just played the arena as that huge brute with the huge bat and picked three of those tiny guys as opponents and swat them around the level
the limbs plopping off monty python-style was hilarious

actually, if you have a wii controller, and a bluetooth adapter, you can get some software off somewhere to use it as a mouse
and thus as a sword in die by the sword
only they're so insanely expensive that i haven't tried it yet

Yeah I agree Raven has gone to crap.. I used to always look forward to what Raven would do with every iteration of iD's Engines as they always were better than anything iD churned out... However the last few games they have done leave a lot to be desired:

X-Men Legends (2004)
X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse (2005)
Quake 4 (2005)
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (2006)

They are working on a Wolfenstien Game for the X360.. Big fucking wh00p....

I want a Soldier of Fortune 3 or Hexen Follow up... Hell they could do about face and redo Black Crypt and make it awesome, but the faith I used to have with Raven is dying ...

I remember playing the shit out of Severance, otherwise known as Blade of Darkness.

It didn't support any analog movement of the swords or anything like that, but it had a great feeling to it.
