What do you mean by 'DOS'? Command prompt?

If so, Read this.

About the BIOS, just put a password in there. About Windows, create a password the usual way (CTRL+ALT+DELETE -> Change/Create Password), then set the PC to lock after a few minutes (or you could lock it every time you get away from it, that's what I do).

Dude, if you changed the password, it's immediate. Lock the PC and try to login.

And why are you doing it through 'DOS'?

Press Delete of F1 or whatever to get in your BIOS options during startup, then go on from there. Forget about what you think is DOS ...

This wont work too, because they might get the idea to reinstall the computer...so it wont be enough to only make a windows password.

Set the default booting device as the HDD and put a password in the BIOS. In order to reinstall "the computer" (Laughing), they need to boot from the CD. This should be enough.

Dude, I told you how to... In the BIOS, set the first boot device to the hard disk. They won't be able to change that because there is a password now, and they won't be able to boot from the CD.

Always, my friend. Razz The bios can be reset, and in most cases, password is reset as well (meaning no password). In such cases, the best thing to do is go with hardware protection, but they cost money, and can be hacked as well.

So no matter what you do, your pc is in danger if you are in the wrong place and the wrong time...and with the wrong people. I guess i will remove everything i got in there, untill i get back.

Any useful links on how to learn things about the BIOS and every thing that follows with it?
