Hey guys... I've uhhh... "come across" a Zune (you know the laughable portable entertainment device from Microsoft).

So apparently this thing plays video of sorts, but not just straight up video.

Are there any freeware apps out there that can convert XviD to a Zune capable format so I can watch movies?

Or does it not do that kind of video?

you mean MP4
then use Xilisoft.Video.Converter.v3.1.30.0514b.WinALL-NoPE
for those that are to tired to know all the stuff how to decode and compress a video

"It natively supports the JPEG format for images, the WMV format for video, and these audio formats: MP3, AAC (.m4a), WMA Pro (2-channel), and WMA Standard."

"the Zune Software will transcode, or convert, some other media formats to native ones; e.g., from MP4 video to WMV video."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zune#Software

so it takes wmv natively, and that software will convert. why not skip a step and use the software S-p suggested to convert xvid to wmv?

Well I will have to test that out then. Smile

Thank you, we'll see how it goes.

The farthest I was able to discover was a registry hack to let the Zune convert the video files, but apparently XviD had a horrible result, and was unwatchable.

So are you saying with this program, convert, transfer, play? That easy?
