That game's ripping my rig apart, and I cant seem to understand why.
I get like 25-30 straight when I walk up from the office to the camp, the highest I've gotten is around 50 in the wild with nothing big in the way.
Specs:
E6600 Core 2 Duo 2.40GHz
2GB Corsair VS
eVGA Ge-Force 8800GTX
P5N-E SLI ASUS mobo.
What the hell could be wrong? my drivers are 158.22. running WinXP.
Oh I forgot, I'm running everything possible maxed out, except res which I always keep at 1024x768

Maybe it's some sound incompatibility. Try disabling/enabling EAX, updating your sound card drivers etc. Also patch the game if you haven't. Also, I think there are newer Nvidia drivers, aren't there ?

Well I'm using the HD Audio driver and I have a built-in Realtek audio card.
I did see some weird differences when I turned EAX on & off.
Maybe this time I SHOULD use the AC97 driver instead?

use whatever updated drivers that are provided for your audio
btw, theres always an official tech thread opened for popular games so search for the game in here before posting, might save ya the hassle. I don't want to read through 7 pages for ya so here's the link  Hope your answer is in there.

Nah, I think this game isn't very well optimised for Dual Core, or the problem is something else.
I run STALKER at 1920x1200 with Full Dynamic Lighting and almost everything maxed out, and get more framerate than this guy, and I have a much older machine than the threadstarter. |

i found that patching stalker....getting >158 drivers and adding another gig of ram sorted thing out for me....went from a slideshow to 30-40fps @10x7 mid-max settings.
x2 4200@2500, 2gb dc ddr2 667 @ 714, gf8600gt @ 630/850 (160.03) etc etc
intel i7 3770k @4.4, ASRock Z77 Extreme 4, 16GB Corsiar Vengance 1600 ram, ATI 5850 BE, Antec 1 Case, Antec 1 550W PSU, emu0404, 120gb agility3 ssd OS, 2x60gbvertex2raid0 Games, 3 TB total sata2 Data. win7 x64.

I have that CPU, and 2GB corsair. My GFX is only 7900gt. I run at your resolution, with full dynamic. I get about 30-35 fps coming out of the trader's. 45-50 running around elsewhere. I've turned some stuff down (like shadow quality is second highest: can't see a difference) and reduced grass density a bit.
Nothing magic about it. The lighting is very complex. If it isn't running at full speed for you, you just have to turn some settings down. Having the fastest components is no guarantee that you can run everything at max. That might not be possible until next year's top components.
