|
 |
Well it looks like I've joined the "dirty or damaged disc" crowd..
Recently bought a DVD-R to burn off XBOX ISO images using Nero 6, burned at 2x.
Each game I pop in my Xbox (softmodded) will run for about 40 seconds or so, then get the dirty or damaged disc error...
Any ideas? :\

Sometimes the Xbox DVD drive can suck at reading certain CDs, so you can attach to your Xbox a regular PC DVD drive. What this does is get your Xbox to read just about every burned disc you throw at it, worked like a charm for me.
There is a guide here (very easy too):
http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/swap-dvd.php
Good luck with your discs.

Xbox DVD Drives are fussy, and will only read certain media.
samsung Reads it all pretty much but strugles with DVD +R, however it is the best drive IMO.
Phllips = Second best
thomson = worst.
PC DVD drives in the xbox will boot burnt games, but not originals jaykop

it could be the make of CD-RW
Thomson's are dodgy at best, they even give trouble on retail diks.

Well the majority of the community refutes the statement you just made in that post so maybe you're mixed up as to what drives you've got. I can say that my phillips works perfectly with DVD-R's.
