I don't think this is a good idea. The game was great at its time. There is no need of a remake, even more if its just a copy of the original just with next-gen graphics.
But in the other hand, people that didn't play the original back then, never would play it because of outdated graphics. Copy the game with nowadays graphics and all those people will play it.
I actualy dont mind this remake but the fact that they are wasting the time doing this instead of a whole new game.

I really enjoy TR: Leyend. Isn't supose there'll be a sequel of that game?

A homemade short-film (It's a dramatical experimental videoclip-style short, has nothing to do with games!):

first, this is not a remake confirmed by eidos, some levels is based on the first tomb raider thats it, this is a new game, the engine is an improved version of legend, the story is the sequel to legend, there are some new moves and tricks that lara can do too, etc.

i read this on a magazine, an exclusive interview & screens .

It is confirmed that Anniversary is an enhanced remake of the original 1996 platform best-seller, built using the Tomb Raider: Legend engine. It's not a 1:1 remake, but it follows the same basic plot and builds on it. It's supposed to feature the original game key moments and all the levels present on the original game rebuilt from scratch to match with the more dynamic new abilities of Lara

bzzzz wrong not a sequel to legend......

Quote:

Confirmed regular levels

* Peru - Lara is hired by Jacqueline Natla to find the Scion hidden in the Tomb of Qualopec, hidden in the Incan city of Vilcambamba. Peru has already been confirmed, with the Lost Valley appearing in the recent trailer. Confirmed enemies include: T-Rexes, Raptors, Bears, wolves, Bats and an appearance from Larson.

* Greece - After interrogating Larson, Lara finds herself in Greece, inside St. Francis Folly to find the second part of the Scion. Levels include: St. Francis Folly, Colosseum, Palace Midas, The Cistern, and the Tomb of Tihocan. Enemies from the original level included: gorillas, rats, lions, crocodiles, and many appearances of Pierre Du Pont.

* Egypt - Lara tracks the last piece of the Scion to Egypt, hidden in the City of Khamoon. Levels include: City of Khamoon, Obelisk of Khamoon, and the Sanctuary of the Scion. Confirmed enemies include: panthers, mummy mutants (which bear the resemblance of tall biped mummified panthers and can now throw fireballs), crocodiles and the final appearance of Larson. Atlantean mutants, winged mutants, and centaur mutants have recently been confirmed.

* Atlantis - Lara follows Natla to the Great Pyramid of Atlantis to retrieve, then destroy the Scion. Levels include: Natla's Mines, Atlantis, and the Great Pyramid. Enemies from the original level included: Natla's henchmen, Atlantean mutants, winged mutants, centaur mutants, giant mutant, and the final appearance of Natla.

The latest Tomb Raider game was very very good again, and this anniversary one is gonna be from the same makers, so I am pretty excited about it. Played the first one when I still was pretty young (10 or 12, I don't remember), I still know the first 3 levels but that's about it Smile

Do that, it's really really fudging awesome. I played it through 3 or 4 times and then even completed the time trials and unlocked everything there was...

And mind you, I didn't complete any Tomb Raider games since Tomb Raider 2 because somehow I had the feeling they got worse and worse.

There will be a sequel to TR Legend next year and it is IN development.

TR Anniversary uses the same engine as Legend but doesn't provide Next-gen content so you can't have XBOX360 models and textures since the game is only out for PS2/PSP and they didn't spend time doing high poly models + high rez textures for PC.

So basically, it'll look like a PS2 game (like Legend, with Next Gen OFF).

Thanksfuly, the game is one of the nicest on the PS2.

Oh, and for people who think it'll suck, well reviews are saying it's the best TR ever, and the rating is good.

Then I don't get it.

They are going to make a re-make of an old game, with old puzzles and 'old graphics'

Notes to the post: TR:leyend looks good to me, i'm not a graphic whore, but it'd have more sense if it use better graphics or if they make significative changes in the levels.

Maybe i'm missing something here

It's improved PS2 gfx (but more or less the same as Legend) and new puzzles (you can't see in TRL or TR1 either)
