in the bios, ive had a look at the drives that are detected, and yes it is finding the drive, it is also detecting the other 3 hdd's that are connected. id really appreciate some help if anyone can provide it. thanks.

Could be wrong, but isn't PXE-E61 relating to an onboard NIC? If so, is your BIOS set to boot from the NIC before your HDD? Adjust your LAN settings to correct.

I was going to suggest you had your IDE devices set incorrectly to say master/master but if your BIOS is detecting them then ...

ok i disabled the network boot from inside the bios, and now when i try booting, i get 'boot disk failure'. im trying to boot a winxp disc so that i can install windows, and common sense would suggest that ive either not connected the disc drive properly, or its broken, but like i mentioned before, if i go into the bios and check ide drives, i can see the disc drive listed, so it IS being detected...

Make sure your boot device priority BIOS setting is set for CD first then HDD.

yep i have done that as well.is it possible that while the drive is operational, the lense inside might be stuffed so while the drive is detected, its still actually broken?

new problem now, currently i cant see 2 of my 3 hdd's Sad but atleast ive loaded windows, and now im in familiar territory.
