Hi,
Finally decided to have a go at Live and it's terrible .... I tried Virtua Tennis & Fight Night 3 and they were both unplayable, Gears of War was ok but I'm not really into that game, winning 11 X said something in Japanese when I tried the online thing.

Anyway I know it's not all bad but what games run pretty lag free ... Also Thailand isn't one of the countries supported by X-Box live, so I chose my locale as Singapore which is the nearest but my Windows log-in was using my e-mail address which was when I was in the Uk so I have to put a Uk postbox number .... Any tricks in getting it faster and no lagging, what are some things I should get or download, any other things I should try while I'm on my 1 month trial gold membership ???
I saw that Uno is supposed to be ok

Thanks in advance in some things I can do on live ..

When you call someone a dumbass, be extra careful to spell the word Japanese correctly ... Dumbass

I know Winning X is Japanese, when you press the X-box live option on the Jap game something in Jap text comes up and no matter what button you press you always go back to the title screen, I can't read JapAnese so don't know what's wrong ...

Also I know Live isn't bad as millions of people love it, I was looking for some help or opinions on things that are fun on X-Box live ......

The Internet isn't that bad here though, I was in the Uk last week where my friend supposedly had a 8mb line, but his download speeds were slower than mine .... I supposedly have a 1mb line but I never hit more than 100 kbs, and usually run at about 80 kbs .... Isn't that fast enough ???

Well your friend is bullshitting you then. I have a 4mb line at home and it always maxes out, although the one I have at uni is shit.

Speed isn't everyting. Distance is a factor as well. Most people who play on Live live in Europe and the US.

its probably one of those bullshit services that promise upto 8mb but the reality is it depends on your line quality and distance from exchange which determines how much you really get. your friend just doesnt realise he doesnt have an 8meg line but a 512kb one or something haha.

Most games have a lobby where it polls the games available and gives you basic information about the connection strength. But unless you know the person irl there's no way of predicting when they will be online.

Best thing to do I guess is to build up a friends list of dudes that generally don't lag.

Another issue might be the sorts of games played in the East is slightly different. I don't know about Thailand but I'm sure I read that FPS games make Japanese people vomit.

Get an ink stamp with your gamertag on, and go round all the local electronics stores and stamp the boxes when the assistants aren't looking.
