What is the best way to delete XP under Vista...I don't really want to do a clean install as its a pain in the A.S...

Delete the Windows folder, then the Documents and Settings folder, then the page file. At last, use a BCD editor to remove the XP item in the boot menu and make Vista the default and only item.

You would delete the windows xp folder of course. That is no problem. Just leave the windows vista folder.

Shift delete, to be exact. If you want to remove a Windows installation, you delete it... Wink

Depends, your vista has one folder, your xp has another, probably on two different partitions or disks.

In vista open an explorer window, and type in the address bar %windir% and press enter. Don't delete that folder, that's where vista is installed.

Windows XP will be in another folder, also called windows, but probably on another disk. You can delete the entire \windows folder.

May you should explain us a little bit more what is your setup mate. Smile
My guess is that you have them in two partitions on the same disk, with XP on the first partition (where are the boot files) and Vista on a second one.
If yes you will have, from Vista, to edit the BCD boot with 'EasyBCD' or 'Vista boot pro' and remove the entry for XP, then delete all the files on your XP partition excepting the boot system files at the root and the folder named 'boot' (they are hidden by default, uncheck 'hide protecting operating system files' in folder options). You can also format the whole XP partition from vista then use the vista DVD after reboot to restore a proper boot.
