|
 |
Hi all
Just wondering if there are any scene rules regarding the use or not of GMC (global motion compensation), Packed bitstreams and QPEL in xvid encoded videos. The reason I ask is because the large majority of standalone DIVX capable dvd players struggle to handle a lot of the above and I wonder whether this is even taken into account.
I realise scene rules aren't law and people can release what they like, how they like, but just wondering whether major groups generally follow some sort of standard when ripping dvds and releasing tv eps that either involve using or not using GMC3 for example?
Cheers
Darky

both QPEL and GMC are stated as not to be used int he latest XViD guidelines. however there are quite a few standalones that support these now as well as progressive scan. I use only yamada standalones the 1st one i had didnt support qpel or GMC all my othewrs since have. currently i use the Mi220X. its nice and affordable supports dts/5.1 pretty much every vid format. has numerous vidoe out options vga/svid/composite/scart only thing it lacks is the USB port for removeable media that my last one had

Thanks GestaltO. Your post has been very helpful.
I might see if these Yamada players are available in Australia. Are they fairly well built?
