Well... excitedly got my parts today and went to work ripping the boxes open.

Fired up my lovely brand new 680i EVGA board (A1 revision) and... NADA.
Not post code. Just 2 dashes on the code read out. Called evga... board is a dud.

For future reference... it has been a few years since I built a system and I know how things change. But, when I get the new board in the mail... if I apply power to it with no CPU or anything installed (just the blank board) should I get some kind of post code in the read out? Or, do i need to at least have the CPU in?

EDIT: Nevermind. I googled it and found you at least have to have a CPU in.

Ehhh... the board was DOA WITH the CPU in.

I was just wondering if the board would post some kind of error when I get the new one if I just put power to it.

The board was a dud. I can be a dumb ass at times... but I'm not QUITE THAT stupid. I had the CPU and Memory in it... nothing. Took Memory out (1 stick at a time) nada. Took video card out and nada. Called tech support. Was asked what the LED was reading and I said "Two dashes" tech support says, "that's not good." was asked if it could be a grounding issue, I told him no because the mobo was sitting on a cardboard box. He said board was DOA. Commence RMA process.

Now... re-reading my initial post... I'm glad I gave you guys a laugh but it came out the wrong way. Rolling Eyes Laughing

Guess I should have been more detailed to begin with.

Re-reading my post... I see why.
I guess I just took for granted people would take that to mean I tried it with components in it.
Ah well. It is funny though.

Sorry, Big_Gun... I actually thought you didn't put the CPU in.

Sucks though, with the Tuniq Tower, it is indeed a big hassle to put and now remove.
