Soooo... MS/Turn10 has dropped their bi-yearly schedule for the Motorsport & Horizon series and what we thought was Forza Motorsport 8 seems to be a reboot that is now in early development. I guess that means we'll possibly see a new Horizon a year or two after the new Motorsport reboot for Xbox Series X/PC has been released, if ever. Yay........

I don't like the Motorsport games, I get bored driving around the tracks for hours and hours. That's why I've been playing Horizon 4 like a bitch; it's got variety - track/road race, street race, dirt race, cross country.. and drifting and drag racing that I'm totally uninterested in.. but it's simply much more fun as far as I'm concerned. I'm not into F1 or other pure track-based games and haven't been since Colin McRae 5 (but that was rally and very different from track-based racing).
EDIT: I just checked info about Playground Games (the British developer behind the Horizon series) and their current project is a Fable reboot which tells me that the possibility of a new Horizon anytime soon is far beyond the horizon... (pun intended).
after seeing forza horizon 4, it's probably the best that they work off their diversity minds on another game, before getting back to forza. everything was worse in forza horizon 4, compared to 3 and that's already even without all the stuff which should attract minorities.
If they really want to raise the bar they must obligatorily overhaul quite a few aspects that dragged Forza 7 down: from the AI which was nothing short of obscene, to the entire single-player which was tainted by the grind-y structure and by the inexcusable lack of qualifying, all aspects that invalidated the sense of reward.
The simcade handling/physics and FFB could use many improvements as well in order to make them feel more believable, along with the simplified weather effects, the "damage" system, and so on. I hope the Microturn10 folks acknowledge the shortcomings that plague their series, though for all we know the Forza Reboob might just still retain the gimped nature with also one of those ongoing live services for the e-leet generation on top of it.
Horizon 4, as "derpy" as it is, is still the only game of it's kind around and while I never played Horizon 3 (well, I played the demo and didn't like it which in hindsight was stupid since the game opens up once you've gone through the entire introduction and can start playing multiplayer competitively online), I've spent hundreds of hours in Horizon 4 and I love it although there are plenty to complain about (I could list several dozens of things that either suck or need serious improvement but it's outside the scope of this thread and belong in the now-dead-and-forgotten Horizon 4 thread).
Those games should be multiplayer fiesta, leaving games like Rocket League in the dust with potential
but instead it's a snore because they can't figure out decent multiplayer ecosystems
They DID add The Eliminator ( ) to Horizon 4. I mean, the games been out since 2018 and beyond the stupid Lego DLC and the Drift-island DLC the only new game mode/feature they've added was The Eliminator which is... amusing at most when bored.. and very limited since you can't create your own Eliminator matches between two clubs/convoys (another underdeveloped/derped/non-functional feature).
Free Play does not require an internet connection but any progress in any other mode like Career is stored on servers and requires an internet connection.
Turns out it will indeed be Forza GaaSport living in the clouds, for the most part anyway. The most efficient way to monetize it with cars, XPee boosts and challenges added on a weekly basis thus making the player feel constantly "engaged"

Maybe an online fix will come like for FH4+5, but apparently they've started banning accounts using that workaround.

Why does it look so bad? Wasn't this supposed to be a showcase for the Sexbox Serious Sex? It looks miserable. Lighting is godawful, reflections are a shitshow (in the wAyTwACiNg generation ), shadows are crap, track detail is nonexistent and trees are fucking cardboards in 2023. WHAT THE FUCK
