I got an iextreme 1.4 mod. Can I just download the scene releases, burn them and play online or do I have to patch them? How to check if the image is patched? How to patch it yourself?

They are patched -- Old ones you must patch yourself.

Oh yeah and to patch it yourself you would use an app called Mulleter. It seems for newer games you have to get the security sectors yourself from places that probably can't be posted here.

OK, I'll find them I guess. Is there an application to check the status of the downloaded file? To determine whether it's patched or needs patching? Are there problems with some games that cannot be patched? Can I play legit copies with iextreme?

Legit copies is a big yes! I find they normally read better then the burned ones. They just seem to make less noise well being read.
