I somewhere read the reasons Anon think LulzSec got created, and financial gain was among them.
Think of it this way - you cause millions in damage, have loads of CC info, you even make it public, it's proven, that many people have as a result of this been stolen from, and you think they didn't do any of that stealing?
I mean, don't be naive here. They've backpedaled on everything else they "stood for"already, with morals like these, I would genuinely be shocked to find out, that they didn't touch the money.

If I was ever happy about a thread going off course then it is in this case. I believe that the fact alone, that there is a thread dedicated to those retards is an insult to us all.

I see no point in starting such a thread, just as i see no point in discussing Lulzsec. Guess why I never really commented on them. 
There are two kinds of people talking about this in my opinion:
1) The fanbois, guys without a clue who think that lulz is doing something cool. No point in arguing with them, they will grow up eventually.
2) The haters, guys who rage about what they do and express their desire of seeing them brough to justice.
3) .. there is no third group. I said two kinds didnt I? I have really not seen any middle ground as far as discussion goes.
As far as fanboism goes.. I could argue with them all they long and all i would get out of it is an elevated blood pressure. It is easier to get the wall learn to speak, than to get a fanboi understand reason. The haters.. I agree with them, but reading upset posts will only result in me getting upset as well..
So again the question: what is the value in this thread when it comes to discussion about lulzsec? I'm really curious what you see in this thats worth protecting.

Maybe it is the signal to noise ratio of the thread, but out of the first 8 pages, there was very little useful information in regards to the actual hacks, what was stolen, what steps you should do if you fear your data has been stolen, etc..
To answer your specific question: No. I never for a moment thought my data to be safe anywhere other than in my own possession. I also believe that for every hack that is so widely anounced, there are at least two that are not. (probably a whole lot more tho) In lights of that, i see no reason for this to exist.
Let's turn this question around: Please show me, from the first 8 pages of discussion, which posts were actually useful for those who might have been concerned for the safety of their personal data?
This thread mostly revolves around announcing new hacks lulz did (which you can pretty much get from twitter if you are so much interested in them) and the reactions of people (mostly emotional ones, not really the analytical kind) to these hack.

Ironic that I originally wrote a post almost a week ago about just this same issue intended for this thread, but decided to not post it because i thought it would not add to the discussion plus it is not my place to tell you what not to talk about, and there.. you still managed to get my opinion out of me after all.
If you wanna talk about lulz, go on. I honestly believe the world would be a better place if noone would ever mention their name (other than the authorities of course), so if we are done with the off topic stuff, i just leave and let you slip back into your usual routine of lulzsec following.

No one is putting them on a pedestal. I don't condone their actions. I was just curious how you would legitimize your claim that money was involved. Of course it's a possibility but It's naive to to make accusations based on assumptions or something you read somewhere. |
I'd like you to take a look at these immature people, that make up LulzSec, take a look, at what they are doing, try and judge their morality (isn't hard for most of us in this topic), and then think about, what the chances are, that they themselves stole cash, not only those they leaked the data to. They even had first touch privileges. Be serious about this question, do you think people like these, who are all about "we destroy, because we can" don't also think "we take, because we can?".
They are ordinary criminals, nothing more. I fully condemn them, and hope they get to rot for many years in jail.

Be it far from me to derail the thread, in fact I did agree with you when you first said that it should stay on topic and not go into politics, even though politics was bought up in relation to lulzsec and how they are choosing their targets.
You see, if they pick goverments, any government.. then politics are bound to be involved, whether you like it or not. From there on, it is just one step to widen the scope to other stuff those governments do, so people are hardly to blame for following the flow of the discussion. Still, you were mostly right in that the thread moved far too much off course there with ww2 and stuff.
As for you not realizing that we were in agreement, thats probably my fault for not making it clear, instead I opted to post a mocking remark intended to voice my opinion of the pointlessness in this thread. You for some reason took offence in that and started to argue and now we are here...
To make it clear: I do not intend to tell people what to talk about. It is my opinion that if you do not like a thread, you can just not read it.. no need to tell people how you feel about it, so that mocking remark there early on was a mistake on my part, for which I apologize.
However I also believe that one should protect his opinion if it is questioned, and because you did just that, I reacted.
In regards of your latest post:
You asked me a question, I answered and asked you a question. No.. you do not have to answer, just as you do not have to argue if you lack the skills or will neccessary to do so.
Also claiming our discussion to be off topic and an attempt to derail the discussion is just stupid. We are talking about this very thread.. how can that be off topic?
With that said: have fun discussion lulzsec, just stay out of the way of my posts, unless you have some actual arguments to back up your opinion, because: "i don't have to do that" just does not cut it.

He'll be given an offer. The last English guy to hack government sites (like NASA and the Pentagon) is waiting extradition and a possible 60 year jail sentence ... this little shit has done far worse than look for "proof of aliens" - so he'll no doubt be threatened with the same sentence. So he'll plea-bargain; He'll rat on every other member he knows in exchange for leniency.
How long? Two weeks, tops.
