I just bought a multimeter for the first time. Need help on how to test if I soldered a mod chip in ok. I will be installing the WiiKey..Using wires..

My meter does support continuity.

Im guessing I:

1) Turn Wii on,
2) Set to 20Vdc (lowest scale on my meter),
3) Put +(red) lead on one of the solderding points on board.
4) Black lead connects to any of the other points.
5) If meter says 3V- good - then move black lead to another point and repeat
6) Must read 3V between each 2 points tested

Is this right?

It also came with a AV Voltage detector- Can I just use that to touch each soldered point - if light goes on that means its got volts going thru?

I think this is right way:
1) Leave off
2) Set on the ohms scale lowest setting
3) put red lead on solder point on the wii.
4) put Black lead on solder point on the wiikey thats connected by the same wire.
5) u should get a reading of no to very little resistance (which means that voltage/current can run through that wire whithout resistance, which is good)
