Very strange issue with TAGES

I try to make a backup of Infernal with Virtual CD 8. I left the setting to default and turned on the backwards sector check option because of TAGES.

Virtual first reads the data and makes an image (actually it makes three, a .000, a .001 and a .002 file). Then, it starts to verify the image by reading the disk backwards. The problem: it takes ages. The image creation was normal, but the sector check is very, very slow. After two hours, I'm only at 6%.

What could I do wrong?

I can't keep my PC running for 30-40 hours straight and I don't think it would lead to a correct image. The game DVD is only 1,6 GB. A normal DVD9 game would need 200 hours that way. This can't be normal.

I think it goes faster at the end, probably the protected shit is at the beginning.
You can always try some different settings ofcourse. Maybe slower reading speed (Yes, slower).

I also tried an external drive, but nothing. The speed remains at 30-40 sectors per second. I guess some process or driver on my system doesn't go well with Virtual CD.

How good is the crack-rate for TAGES? Is there one group that usually cracks all TAGES protected games?

The more skilled group with Tages is Reloaded (they crack Darkstar One and more recently
War Front Tunring Point Very Happy )

But this protection is a nightmare from a cracking point of view : if u haven't played the full game, u can't be sure that u haven't missed a hidden cd check Sad

I say ViTALiTY, which seems much better at cracking TAGES last time.
