Anyone that can recommend a good low CPU and low memory demanding torrent client? I am using uTorrent right now on Windows 98 and when i have 20-30+ people downloading i cant use my computer to anything else since it is lagging like crazy.

Yes yes i have an old computer, my other one is broken so dont pick on me about that... Smile

Maybe it's Windows 98? Try putting Windows 2000 or something.

WTF?! Put Windows 2000 in there at once! Once I put XP on my P3 500/64MB, I never looked back.

On such crap hardware, 2000 > XP because it has less processes. If he want XP to run smooth on that, he'll have to tweak it to a level that is the same as 2000.

That's probably best, if he can find it. Judging from his question about the torrent client, he doesn't look the type to search that well.

I will try win2k, i already tried winXP and it was slow on my computer but i didnt tweak it anything however.

On Win98 it is lagging when there are many people downloading from me while i am watching a movie for example.

And LeoNatan, i dont have a problem searching on google, i just value NForce peoples opinions more than the results on Google Smile

Your hardware is fine and should be able to handle the load. I still use a p3 500mhz laptop sometimes and that sucker has seen much heavier action - downloading, encoding, surfing and winamp simultaneous. And I was using a combination of BitComet and Newsleecher. Only at really high d/l speeds the hard-disk used to have problems keeping up but no lag.

Your problem might lay somewhere else. Sometimes people using torrent clients tend to increase max connections and that causes internet surfing to lag but not the whole computer.

People tend to overestimate their hardware needs and always end up buying the 'super-duper fast' computer which they don't need.

My other computer (p4 2.6Ghz) is broken and i sold the parts that worked (my motherboard is broken). I intended to buy a new computer in april since the R600 was supposed to come then but now it seems that it will be delayed further so i have to try to survive with my p3 600Mhz for a while longer Sad

I am waiting for some games to come out anyway (Crysis, quake-wars and a few others).
