I know I hate crysis and all that, but god damn do I love their engines. Took bad they didn't lisense the cryengine like the UE3

They should at least license their engine to decent software houses Laughing

It's ultimately up to the developers themselves which engine they decide to license. Obviously Cryengine costs more to license than the Unreal engine does, or it's simply that Epic have superior support for the developing studio.

I would have left a long time ago in their shoes. I wonder if this ban, on a deeper level, has anything to do with past events and trying to distance themselves from what happened? Don't any of the politicians realize the fucking irony in banning stuff to distance themselves from a regime that banned stuff? Very Happy

My deepest sympathies however to the gamers that have to put up with that bullshit attitude and import/patch their games to play them how they were meant to be played!

The CryEngine 2 was doomed from the moment the internets filled with people unsatisfied with how it runs. Doesn't matter how good their engine is, this doomed it.

They already banned Austrian gaming sites and places from where you can buy games, because many persons were exploiting this to buy uncensored games and co.

Pretty lame, I have no idea why are they doing this, it's not like a new Hitler will arise because of violent games(no offense towards Germans that are reading this, but it's pretty stupid to do this).

maybe because germany doesn't officially exist ? (Still regarded as an enemy in Un charter lol) and they don't have a (own, voted on) constitution ... just thinking out loud tho ...

read a lot about it lately. Also German flag is black-white-red (which has also nothing to do with Nazi Germany i may add.) Current Flag is from the "Weimarer Republik" which was, like the actual Governement, implented by the victorious Allies (WW1). Unlike WW1 tho, Germany never signed a Peace Treaty with its Enemies (The Allies) but was occupied ever since (by France, Britan, US and Russia).

Maybe Allies are still afraid of Germany, so they want to remove all violent and negative things, like Videogames

No. This is not the real reason. The main reason why CryEngine 2 is not popular among developers/publishers is because it's PC only engine, UE3 is a multiplatform engine. Now when CryEngine3 goes multiplatform too, we will see alot of games using it, i am sure

It's settled then, no multiplatform support killed CE2. Very Happy

Our politicians do this to protect the youth from violent media due to some massacres at schools, at least that's the official version. Unofficially they just want to get the uninformed older population to vote for them. Also the censorship of the Internet is to decrease the access to child porn or so they say.

face it, germany is a completely de-fanged country now. 10 Fijians invade with about 5 pistols between them, 20 bullets and a few knives, and germany would lose. its a sad sad shame how pathetic germany has become Sad

crytek should just leave.. i cant imagine anyone WANTING to live in a country that censors sesame street.
