It's ultimately up to the developers themselves which engine they decide to license. Obviously Cryengine costs more to license than the Unreal engine does, or it's simply that Epic have superior support for the developing studio.

The CryEngine 2 was doomed from the moment the internets filled with people unsatisfied with how it runs. Doesn't matter how good their engine is, this doomed it.

No. This is not the real reason. The main reason why CryEngine 2 is not popular among developers/publishers is because it's PC only engine, UE3 is a multiplatform engine. Now when CryEngine3 goes multiplatform too, we will see alot of games using it, i am sure

The current release of CryENGINE® 2 is designed to fully support a wide range of PC graphics hardware from older shader model 2 chipsets to the latest shader model 4 offerings......
..... In addition, CryENGINE® 2 is currently being optimized for use on a number of "next generation" console platforms. Release dates for the console versions of the CryENGINE® 2 have not yet been announced. |
The console versions of the CryENGINE® 2 are what they call CryEngine 3 now

It's settled then, no multiplatform support killed CE2.

Our politicians do this to protect the youth from violent media due to some massacres at schools, at least that's the official version. Unofficially they just want to get the uninformed older population to vote for them. Also the censorship of the Internet is to decrease the access to child porn or so they say.

face it, germany is a completely de-fanged country now. 10 Fijians invade with about 5 pistols between them, 20 bullets and a few knives, and germany would lose. its a sad sad shame how pathetic germany has become
crytek should just leave.. i cant imagine anyone WANTING to live in a country that censors sesame street.
