Here's my awful comp specs:
P4 2.8 HT, Asus P4P, 2gb Ram 400, 6800GT 256 AGP.
I know, it's old.
Anyway, SupCom, even on the lowest sets seems to run at an unplayable FPS...
Does this make sense? should I just give up to technology and buy a new comp?
Thanks

Come on, only your CPU sucks. See if you can upgrade that (if your mainboard supports anything decent)
From what I've seen, Supreme Commander is unstable on some PCs anyway, maybe a patch or new nvidia drivers will make it playable for you.
Or just get another game.

@ Reg67
Well, what type of installer is it? Is it the same type between the games you have problems with?
On another note, reboot your PC, then go to c:\documents and settings\your user name\local settings\temp\ and delete everything. Note that local settings is hidden. also clear c:\windows\temp

Another solution would be to burn it on disk, keep it in storage and then play it when you upgrade or get a new computer.
Pirate, Keep in storage play.

I still had WinXP installed on a second hd and tried the game. FPS doubled I now get 15 instead of 7 on full details. Enabling the second monitor didn't change the framerate at all. Since it's not a first person or action game I can accept those 15fps.
Tried to lower gfx a bit but it don't improve much (got 20fps) and was way uglier.
