i am planning on buying windows vista now my question will i get the same gaming performance(frame per seconds) or not ? and will buying an extra 512 ram will help?

CPU : Pentium D 3.00
GPU : Gigabyte 7600 GT
Ram : DDR2 1.00 GB (512x2)
HDD: Western Digital 160 GB

My friend told me that if i get an extra 512 ram or 1gb this will make my games run at the same performance and frame per seconds ?
is that true?

NOTE : will i benefit from dx10 (performance wise) (with my dx9 card ) or its just for those spoiled 8800 ? no offense

Oblivion, Bf2, Company of Heroes and Neverwinter Nights 2 ran about 25-50% slower on my comp when I tried Vista.

ive heard that, vista will increase the gameing performance, as its better at managing resources.
But true that he cant use the dx10 with a dx9 card. But thats where he will use the dx9L

Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down on his level and beat you by experience..

What exactly do you want it to improve? It won't make your video card a DX10 card all of a sudden. It's there for legacy.

from my experience Dx9L is worse than Dx9c(comes in XP), so you would see some fps loss in current games and also lower scores in 3d mark and other benchmarks. Also drivers in Vista have not really matured where they can take advantage of the OS.

Also with your video card, you would see a lot of the vram used up for rendering all the bells and whistles of Vista, so your games will be significantly slower. Unless u want to turn off all the visual effects!!!
