For the past couple of months now I've been having weird cd problems. Whenever I run a cd it takes forever. Installing games that are on a cd becomes a huge pain in the ass. And then after finally installing the game sometimes it won't start cause of the protection cause it's taking too long to read the cd so then I have to go and download a no-cd crack. It happened with the Fear expansion pack. It happens with both of my drives so I think it's a software problem with my computer not a hardware. Any ideas?

Oh yea DVDs work perfectly fine with the drives. If a game is on dvd then it installs regularly and not slow.

Strange. Have you tried another dvd rom drive?

I'd just buy a new one anyways they're cheap enough now.

I have two drives and it happens to both of them. One is a pretty new (I'd say around June or May) dvd burner and the other is a pretty old cd burner. The main reason I don't wanna go out and buy another drive even though their cheap is because it's both drives and it happened at the same time so I don't really think it's the drives.

Do you have starforce drivers installed ?
If yes, remove them, then uninstall the dvd drives from the devices manager and reboot.

Come on, chack the support at starforce official site. Or google for "starforce uninstall" and you'll see "rd2_starforce_clean.zip"

Or check gamecopyworld.

Don't worry if you have the drivers or not, run the tool anyway. If you have a starforce game the drivers will be installed again first time you run it.
