First off, Happy 2007 to everyone @ Nforce!

Ok, last night I basically had a dream where I was fully conscious. It was so "real" that I had a full on conversation with my mom who actually told me in our conversation that I am dreaming and if I would close my eyes I would wake up.

Overall, through my life I had a great deal of experiences with dreams, sleep walking, etc, but lately I have been dreaming a lot of almost episodic content where the stories in my dreams basically contunue next time I sleep and I am completely aware of my surrounding and I feel like I can make decisions and no longer have fear as I did when i was a kid.

I did some research on dreams and found some interesting articles, like this one, http://www.shaman-australis.com/~claude/dr...onscious_dreams

I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge on this subject or similar experiences?

Also I would like to mention that no drugs were involved at all hahahha.

Sounds like Abduction to me Wink I never had that but I have had paralysis when just starting to sleep. Its like the body goes to sleep but your mind is still awake. Its very very uncomfortable, you try to move or open your eyes but you can't. Happened to me a few times.

my theory is that you dont consciously dream your dreams and act in it. You just remember it when you wake up. If you would wake up a hour later you would think you have dreamt other things because you cant fully remember the parts before that

link doesnt work btw.

that link should work ...

about my dream last night ... basically i left europe to come back to states on 01/07 . the end of my dream I was having coffee with my mom and through our conversation I asked what date it was and she said 01/09 ... then I asked her (and this part I felt completely aware of my question) how is it possible that I am here when I left two days ago. My mom answered that I am dreaming and if I would close my eyes I would go back home, which I did and woke up right after that ... The level of detail of this dream was amazing and I just felt like I never did before when I woke up ...

I sometimes have dreams like that, where i'm completely lucid and even know it's a dream. The problem is when I realise i'm dreaming my subconscious mind tries to wake up, even when I don't want to. The only way I can stop myself waking up is to constantly keep my mind occupied with the dream world. This has resulted in me running through dissolving dreamscapes desperately trying to find things of interest. When I eventually do wake up from this though I usually feel mentally exhaused, as if i've just sat through a 2 hour exam or something, which is not how you want to feel after sleep!

JeanPerrier, that's how dreams work. You only remember the most recent one prior to you waking up, you can actually have hundreds throughout the night. I tend wake up many times throughout the night so by morning I usually have 5 dreams that I remember.

I remember one time, recently after I got Viva Pinata, I had a dream where I was the only human left in the world, eveyone else was a Pinata in the shape of a human. I was this monster that went around ripping people open to eat the sweets, but it was the only food left in the world so I had to do it. Now that was bizzare! Very Happy

yes but what i am trying to say is that you cant control your dreams consciously. you wake up and then you remember what went on. like you saying that you were very lucid and such, you werent, you just remember it like that. its quite difficult to explain

My dreams are black. Filled with blackness. And black stuff. Like this one time, when I closed my eyes I had to open them quick cause I thought I was sleeping. Rolling Eyes

My dreams suck. Sad

I have been having dreams where I am outside my body lately. My body, dead and nakkid is on a cement slab and I am checking it out. I kinda poke at it a bit. It was like a outter body experience where I could see how others saw me I think.

Now see, that's scary!

I would use a stick if I saw my body and wanted to poke it.

Like what would happen if you're using your index finger, while you're poking yourself, and your body wakes up and you grabs your hand and doesn't let go?

That'd be damn freaky. A stick's safer

Still though. If I saw my body nekkid somewhere, I'd be freaking out. I wouldn't try to poke it with a finger. I'd use a stick. I mean if it were to wake up, I'd just want to run and run and run! With a stick it's easier to drop it and run. But with a finger, what if you get caught. How can you run?

Sad it's scary cause then you start doubting your existence. and you dunno who you are. I mean you know who you are, but you're not yourself in the dream, well you are but you’re not the person on the ground. And it's freaky. Sad

A few months back I became extremely interested lucid dreaming etc. which in turn led me to stumble onto Astral Projection / Out of Body Experiences (OBE).

Found this site very informative (and the music is very soothing too Smile )
http://www.jonasridgeway.com/

Also, I have to recommend the book "Adventure's Beyond the Body" by William Bulham
http://www.amazon.com/Adventures-Beyond-Body-Out-Body/dp/0062513710/sr=8-1/qid=1168501503/ref=sr_1_1/102-2660017-5748942?ie=UTF8&s=books
There's quite a bit in there on metaphysics / universe theory and not just lucid dreaming.
I found it an extremely interesting read at the time, and I hate reading

I ended up learning the various techniques and trying to put them into practice. Although I can't say that I ever suceeded in having the "Out of body" experience so many people talk about (and the site deals with), I believe I came very close.

I woke up (or at least I thought I had at the time) and was staring up at the ceiling, feeling kind of lightheaded and almost sick. Then, all of a sudden I realized that I wasn't really awake and tried lifting my hand. I saw my right hand lift, but it was still laying on my stomach (thus, it was technically another hand ). All of a sudden I was totally deafened with this insane ringing sensation. I got scared, and woke up. Haven't been able to duplicate it again.

Now, one could argue that my obsession with the topic in the previous weeks had merely caused my subconscious mind to play out the event as a dream. You could be right, I don't know.

What I do know however is that it was one of the most photorealistic and chilling "dreams/experiences" I have ever been subject to in my life, truly something amazing. This thread has kinda sparked my interest in it again, I think I'll start giving them another go Very Happy
