I mean when Ultima started to become realtime i didnt agree, but thought its just one title. Today there is no RPG anymore with turn based battles (not those pausables, pseudo-tactic fights). I know there are a lot of console titles still with turn based combat, but the stories are so swallow and linear. I think the last tactical RPG on PC was Betrayal at Krondor, not sure though. I miss them. Who tells the developer what the consumers want?

We are the creators of Time, the victims of Time, and the killers of Time. Time is timeless. You are the clock.

couldn't agree more. I'm getting sick and tired of these action RPG's. silverfall,Titan Quest,Sacred, dungeon siege 2,Mageknight....etc.

They might be fun at the beginning, then they tend to get very boring, just point and click, point and click with no changes in site.
At least adventure games have a decent plot...Very Happy

There are still some turn based RPG's around. But they are being developed in Russia and Germany(most of them anyway) and some of them rarely see an english release.

Agreed, cant understand why there are sp few cRPG in the making today. Many of the best selling games of the past where cRPGs.... Very strange.

proekaan: Do you know a fairly new game, made by some russian developers, it should be something like Fallout... I dont remember the name any more :/

I agree. I never played the Ultima series, but I love those old games like the Wizardry series and the Might & Magic games. I must have completed Bane of the cosmic forge like 15 times with different party combinations. I wish someone would do a game with similar game mechanics as those but with a bit better story and NPC interaction. That would be perfect.

I'd hate to say it,but I got the feeling Fallout 3 will suck,so i'm waiting for afterfall too.Very Happy

Didn't they just release Dungeon cleaners in russia...so I doubt we'll see an english version anytime soon. They will remove all the non politically correct things are replace with stuff those activists allow.kind of sad really, would have been a nice experience Smile

edit. Oh and what about Forlorn World?

Wow you guys think the exact opposite as me... action rpg ftw! Turn based rpg are complete shit, I never like final fantasy nor fallout nor baldur gates and shit like that.

Ultima Online combats were the best I ever played, it was soo strategic and fast with tons of spells. After that Zelda combats were cool but kinda different, Secret of Mana too. Gothic 2 were cool, still a bit too simple. Gothic 3 could have been if it were not bugged. Morrowind/Oblivion were nice try to do something different, but it got too simple and monsters had too much HP, only thing cool was the use skill/gain skill system (if it were not for multipliers).

Still I agree about Diablo/Sacred/Titan Quest... thoses are complete click feast and not really cool... kinda like WoW and every fucking mmorpg, you click the monster once and sometime press 1-2-3-4 to use items/spells when you are in shit... pretty gay.
