Im looking for RTS games, mostly games that focus a little bit more on base-building and a more drawn out battle. Not like Tiberium Wars, were you end a round after a maximum of 30 minutes, where its almost action all the time..

Any ideas? Or am i just hoping for something that doesnt really exist Razz

Rise of Legends. A bit different but lots of upgrade/base-building involved. Not as good as RON, of course, but still worth a shot if you've never tried it.

And I agree, not enough base-building stuff. Too much instant-action rts's these days.

I'd definitely recommend supreme commander for long matches and extensive base building.
The economy in supreme commander is extremely important, so base building is also very important a big part of the game.

a game can end rather quickly though if one player can't defend himself properly.

for really long games I'd recommend Empire Earth 1 and 2. a multiplayer match can last several hours and it's quite a lot of fun.
Empire Earth 3 should come out in November I believe.

I second Supreme Commander.
That game is 80% base-building and 20% battling.

It's brilliant, there's also a Homeworld 2 , anyway, whatever you do, at least download latest patches etc.

The campaign in Medieval 2 is long, most of it though is moving all those gay spies/assassins/priests/diplomats around and going through my 20 cities to manage them properly, so booring ... dropped it early. This Empire : Total War doesn't get me excited, I wish they would go back to the roots and make Shogun 2. Now THOSE were some serious battles !!!

yeah SC rocks and it is a more complex RTS, not as simple to get into as C&C maybe.
But it does need a great PC to run it properly.
It ran really bad on my athlon 64 @ 2.4ghz + 7900tx + 2gigs ram but now that I replaced my old cpu with a core 2 duo @ 2.8 ghz it runs great.
the reason for it needing such a good cpu is because it's simulating a lot of stuff.
in C&C or other RTS games the units usually shoot and they always hit, but in SC a unit shoots a projectile and whatever that projectile hits will take damage. so the flight path of those projectiles has to be simulated and with a hundred units or more firing all the time that's a lot of stuff that has to be calculated

if you are interested in supreme commander but your pc can't handle it, I suggest you go get total annihilation which is it's predecessor and is pretty similar. it came out like 8 or 9 years ago though so don't expect any awesome graphics Smile

TA: Spring comes to mind if you're a graphics whore.
