Have you tried to install xp pro from a "original" cd (one without sp1 integrated)? And at what time during the install process do you install them? Right at the beginning when it's said to press F6 to install additional scsi/storage drivers (if i remember correctly Wink )?

I have an SATA drive - and windows never "asks" me to install additonal drivers.. It finds my 250GB Maxtor SATA automatically. Installed winXP SP1 clean...works perfect...

He's trying to install on a silicon image sata controller which could be his problem. I have a similar problem with my asus P5GD2. I wanted to install xp on the ITE controller and it would tell me that I had no drives available to install to so I had to move a drive over to the intel southbridge slower single ide instead where asus recommends only putting your cdrom/burners.

They expect me to install on the Intell sata controller instead of the silicon images sata controller on the board also.

Someone told me and take this with a grain of salt since I have not tested it but it is what I was told. To install off the external controllers you need to raid 2 drives together which by the way I found hard to believe but who knows. Stranger things have happened when you combine so many controllers on one board.

But I had the same problem and I created a unattende version fo XP so it will install the drivers by the setup and your drive is selecteble for installing XP one to it.
If you need nore help then let me know...
Good luck!

Go to the site of your MOBO...
Get the drivers there for SATA support...
Put these on FDD...

Put the FDD in the PC when prompt for drivers...
Press F5 to go to the FDD... and continue installing XP on your SATA drive Wink Very Happy

P.s. this info isn't clear to many... maybe make a sticky with this kinda info ? Smile Idea

Everyone don't have disgusting floppy drives these days. It's much better to put up a memory card reader instead. Slipstreaming + unattended like nLite is the best option when you wan't to install SATA drivers. I still can't understand why Win XP won't find sata drivers on other things than floppy drives.
