Dark_Alex is really the man!!!

How do you sum up something like this little bit of news? By putting it as plainly as possible. Dark_Alex is working on 3.02 OE-B, the successor to OE-A, and by all accounts, 3.02 OE-B will be able to play PlayStation 1 games. Not just any old games though, but pretty much any PS1 game you already have.
Yes, dear readers. This would mean that you can bypass the three basic annoyances many of us would have with the PlayStation Store once OE-B is complete: having to own a PS3, waiting for Sony's PS1 releases, and paying for them. If you own, say, Final Fantasy Tactics, this should presumably allow you to play the original game on your PSP instead of waiting for The Lion War to come out. Repeat said reasoning with the games you have that still aren't available on the PlayStation Store, and you can see just how much mileage we can get from our games.
Of course, it's still a work in progress, so keep your fingers crossed and cheer Dark_Alex on. Before we go, here's a video of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (European Version) running on the work-in-progress version 3.02 OE-B... at full speed. Merry Christmas, you lucky, lucky people!

Dark_Alex is here on Xmas Eve to bring some very cool news! PSP firmware v3.02 OE-B which is a WIP, will have the ability to run PSOne games which are NOT ONLY available from the official PS3 store. Sony's official PSOne emulator has been found to a real emulator with a real ISO file inside a compressed PBP file. The format has been reversed for emulating PSX games beyond what Sony decide to make available. Stay tuned right here, Dark_Alex is preparing to release a new build tomorrow, it may take a little longer but be sure to take a break from all that Xmas turkey and have a look

You should be making NTSC ISO's it seems there is a screen size issue with PAL ISOS. So Dark Alex said.

More info :
Quote: | Instructions:
- Get the Hot shots 2 game of the playstation store, and its keys.bin, and put it in the same
directory than popstation, renaming it from EBOOT.PBP to BASE.PBP.
Even if using other ps3store game could work, it is not recommended because the program was
done specifically using this one. USE HOT SHOTS 2 USA.
(Note: this is needed in order to get the data.psp and a few data).
- Backup your psx CD to a cd image, using some tool for that.
- Put the iso in the same directory than popstation.
- Execute popstation.exe from the command line. You have to pass one parameter, which is the filename
of the iso. e.g:
> popstation castlevania.iso
The program will generate the EBOOT.PBP, it may take some time, depending of the size of the iso. |
You must have a copy of Hot_Shots_Golf_2_USA_READNFO_PSX_For_PSP-DMU for it to work.

How do you deal with .bin and .img files?
Hmm, Never mind. Think I got it.
Anyone know how this emulator handles 2disk+ games?

Vigilante 8 is working OK, however the view distance is a little poor.
