emulators allow you to add scanlines. Perhaps it was really "blocky" on the monitor.

Haha is that Guardian Heroes?
Playing on emu, been keeping my eye on the emus and finally noticed that DF was mentioned playable... woohoo. 
Don't have original Saturn anymore.  Gave it to a friend a long time ago, dying to play Virtua Cop and Radiant Silvergun again. And of course Dragon Force.

The one I'm using to run Dragon Force is SSF.

There is another emu that claims to have decent success with games as well, Satourne.

I didn't have much luck with Satourne though...
You'll need a Saturn BIOS to run either emu, I'm sure you won't have a problem finding one.. 
I'm not sure if either emu is capable of running games in the iso/mp3 format (I couldn't get them to run), but what works the best is bin/cue mounted in DaemonTools or something.
