THis is the biggest bummer ever. I got a new 8800 gts, a new opty 170, 2 gigs of ram, vista enterprise edition. I was thinking I was all set for a wonderful Xmas weekend, installing all this shit and running Vista in all its glory. And then I find out that theres no support yet for the 8800 on the Vista. So I have to install XP now and then when the drivers actually come out, do another install. I hate windows installs, so much stuff to backup, format, reboots, then get everything back, install all the shit again...man its so much hassle...

I have never done this before but how bad is it to just put in the new hardware and let XP detect all the new stuff and I install just the drivers...is that going to mess up stuff?

The release in january which will have dx10 Smile

Edit: What version did you install btw?

shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

I was under the impression that the leaked one had no dx10. I havent been able to try it myself as I dont have any dx10 card. Oh btw, shove that sig up your arse and act like a grown up instead Smile

Edit: also, I was kind of thinking of the bought edition Smile

Vista leaked = Vista in january [EDIT] = Bought Edition

Vista has two DX versions: DX9L and DX10. DX9L is for legacy support for current hardware (hence the 'L'). DX10 is for next-generation hardware (G80 and R600).

Yeah its leaked - but that doesnt mean that Nvidia was all done with their drivers does it? Smile

and I do know what Dx9L is.

BTW mine is not the leaked version, it is the RTM that Microsoft released to all Technet and MSDN subscribers, and will be released to the rest of the world in Jan. Its 100% legal and fully working. And to answer ur q, it does come with Dx10

Cheers for your answer Smile But Inatan25 answered that part, I was mostly talking about the nvidia drivers in my last post. But I did belive that the leaked one was without dx10 at first.
