I was just thinking,
Is there any possible connection between hacking the 360 and getting the Three Rings of Death over time?

Could be linked, but I'd say more so people taking their systems apart and accidentally without knowing it, damaging something in the process, such as the cooling system which is kinda fragile and very shaky. In the hacking sense, then it may be related to the updates that Microsoft issued through their Xbox Live updates, but I've got about 4 friends that have had theirs done and installed all updates and nothing has happened, systems are completely fine.

5 360s dead????

I can see one being a defective console, but 5. Do you have power issues in your house or something.

Seriously, after 3 deaths i would be looking at the environment its used in, instead of blaming the console.

I have a Stock 360 with the nyco intercooler (Dont think it does shit though) and i have never had any major problems.

After the last update (A few days ago) i have noticed my 360 actually runs better. My friend also noticed it on his. All of the in game cut sceens in NHL07 run butter smooth, when they used to hitch a little here and there.

DVD are scratched when you move the system while is on, not by how its placed. I have used my console in both positiosn with zero disk problems.

Yeah, don't use your 360 in the vertical position.

well my 360 is my first console that (touch wood) hasn't had any problems....
i've had a few ps2's over the years and they are pretty unreliable with quite serious dvd laser life problems (which i know is a very common problem along with psu and circuit board probs)
my xboxes have both needed dvd laser tweaks over time to keep them loading error free (dde anyone Wink )
my cube has had a few issues that a good clean has solved but occasionally wont switch on
my ps1 was a right pain in the butt and needed new power supply boards
my dreamcasts were the most fussy buggers to boot anything other than brand new discs

all consoles have issues...usually due to cost cutting to keep retail prices down...
dont even get me started on pc's hardware never mind s/w (and i'm msdst certified, not a div)

i think some people are just plain unlucky sometimes....others have luck they dont deserve
anyway goodluck with ur watermodded 360, keeping fingers crossed for u bud

xbox360 is just a a great console, however, technically it's awful.
I know many didn't experience any problems, but than again, many did.
I recommend anyone buying it, be sure to extend your warranty. this console can be a trouble maker.
